Everytime I visit Chadstone around dinner time I am drawn to Kintochi. Maybe its the novelty of the sushi train, or just sitting there watching dish after dish being crafted. The record is 13 plates. Very easy to beat as the food is good and washed down with some marble soda.

We seem to keep coming back here which shows that they’re doing something right. Working in their favour is the G-scale train pulling plates of food, a decent beef ramen, and the lack of other acceptable options near the cinema. Make sure to give the dishes on the train a critical eye before seating yourself. Sometimes the plates lack variety and you’re better off ordering from the menu.

Having now tried all the sushi handrolls available in Chadstone Shopping Centre(no mean feat, given the sheer size of that place), I can now say with authority that the cooked tuna rolls you can buy at Sushi Izakaya are the best on offer. Sushi Izakaya also holds an achievement badge for being the only sushi train in the entire shopping centre. If you’ve never eaten with a sushi train, here’s how it works: sit down, grab plates as they come past on a cute little train, eat, pay for the plates you chose. It’s like playing with your food, but in a way your mother wouldn’t frown at. With a range of cheap drinks, including cocktails, for sale as well, Sushi Izakaya is a great place to go when you’re trying to avoid the sardine experience that is a food court.
