Tucked neatly away from busy Glenferrie Road foot traffic is this little gem of a café called Nest. Quaint, lovely and great for breakfast, Nest features breakfast favourites including Eggs Benedict($ 10), Smoked salmon omelettes($ 12) and poached eggs on toast with smoked salmon and avocado($ 12). Lunch time must-tries include the fetta and beetroot toasted pide and pastrami with dill cucumber and mint toasted pide(both $ 9 each). The only drawback to this tiny little diner is the limited seating but regulars refuse to be affected by this since the great, low prices and exceptional food quality outweigh the lack of seating. Plus, Nest actually gets its charm and character from being small and intimate anyway!

I never understood lunch. I mean breakfast was always so wonderful — big fluffy eggs, sizzling smokey bacon, smoothies, juices coffees. And then dinner, my second favourite meal, with its 20 oz steaks, rich pastas, followed by mouth watering desserts. And then lunch just came in the middle, waited around in a kind of no man’s land where it couldn’t really offer anything to satisfy. And then I found Nest, which very luckily opened up around the corner from me. Nest is a testament to what could be done with lunch if people bothered. The sandwiches there are phenomenal, and there’s a huge range for people who don’t want something overly heavy. There’s always a great salad to be had too, for the carb-concerned of us. In terms of coffee and chai, it’s just the basics, but they suffice alongside a heavenly chicken sandwich. All food is made on the spot, but meals can be prepared in advance with a phone call. Nest also does catering so if you’re ever wondering what you could possibly offer to impress your clients or employees, Nest has got your back.
