If you’re looking for a quick box of noodles to satisfy a hunger, this is quick and easy, cute and cheap! Kid’s meals are just $ 5.95 for a tiny box, fruit box, prawn crackers and — as it’s mid Feb and easter is fast upon us — two easter eggs! There’s a choice of chicken and noodles or chicken and rice which will satisfy most kids — the kid’s box consisted of hokkien noodles, chunks of chicken and a few slices of carrots and peas for colour and despite looking like a toddler sized box, it was enough to satisfied my 8yo boy. I had the Kwai Taow with extra chili, regular for $ 8.95 — described as flat rice noodles with pork, shrimp, egg, garlic and vegetables in oyster sauce. If you’re eat a lot of noodles, especially at the Market or in Gouger Street, you’ll be disappointed. The sauces taste processed and noodles make up 90% off the box. But, I’ll say it again, it’s quick and cheap and as long as you’re satisfying a hunger and not a craving, it will do the job.

Good deal when you’re in a bit of a rush and you can’t face another big mac meal(or in my case, even the first bloody big mac meal), then this place is a bit of a winner. Although I’m only giving them three stars, that’s partly because the food is really only acceptable. Most of my decision comes down to speed of service, which is quite good here. I find one noodle place more or less like every other noodle place. Some, you’ll wait hours, others very little at all. This place is definitely in the second category. So if you’re in a rush, this is a fairly safe bet for something that isn’t mass-produced, deep fried crap.

Anything cooked out of a wok is meant to lend a fiery and tasty flavour, as the high heat and fire rock the belly of the wok. And so it is as yummy-licious fried rice, Hokkien noodles with the perfect soft pork bites and sauce, all coated with the perfect hint of sesame oil and a drop or more of oyster sauce, tuck in a little plastic box makes a delightful meal. Have it indoors while you leaf through the glossy magazines or as a takeaway infront of a CSI series. Cheap, tasty and fast service. Can’t get any better than that!

I’ve tried many different fast food asian places where you can order your food and watch as it is prepared and packaged into a noodle box. Wok in a box do asian quite well. There is lots to choose from, so whether you feel like noodles, rice, or meat there will be something for you. Service is very good. The staff are fast and attentive, and usually let me substitute one ingredient for another. The other good thing about this place is the food is nit at all oily, so you don’t get that greasy sickly feeling that comes with eating other takeaways.
