The views, the cocktails, the food are amazing! The service is appalling — they will clear your food or wine before you’re finished just to turn the table over. Be patient, be prepared to be ignored and then have people watch you like hawks till try can get rid of you. Go in summer, sit out on the deck and enjoy.

Had lunch here with my girlfriend and we both shared the garlic pizza(added mushroons) and the spaghetti with crab meat. Both were very good. But the spaghetti was very pricey($ 38). The pizza is what this place is known for and its delicious. Pretty thin dough and crispy crust. Delicious. The pasta was not bad too but a tad bit too salty. Good amount of crab meat though. But you can’t beat the view. Very nice setting.

Been here about 100 times and still can’t get past ordering the Angel hair pasta with rare tuna, chilli, capers, garlic, Parmesan, rocket & extra virgin olive oil. They took it off the menu at one stage and I complained… and then it reappeared! Thank you God! Do yourself a favour and just try it. PS. The Mojitos are great too on an awesome, hot Sydney afternoon!

Absolutely great ambience, fantastic service and astronomically good pizza. We also tried the oysters and they are as good and they can be! Good selection of wines too. I will return to this place next time I am in Sydney.

Ocean view on outside deck is actually worth the wait for ½ hour considering we didn’t make any reservations for Sunday dinner. We came right in the middle of rush Sunday dinner around 7.30pm and we found that the place was jam packed full house! Starter: We ordered ham croquette, with truffle mayonnaise, it was nice and delicate. The antipasto platter was amazingly good; Italian meat ball, so packed full of flavour, Calamari was tender and very crispy with light battered, Fig & prosciutto salad is well dressed, and also came with freshly shucked oyster. Main: Queensland Spanner Crab Spaghettini was EVO base and hint of chilli, i found just right amount of oil to coats the pasta, beautiful clean flavour dish. Fig pizza also delicious, but to my liking the pizza base is a little salty, since it served also with beautiful prosciutto, however, to me, sweetness from fresh fig that just on season is right on the money, can’t really complaint! Dessert: «Pick Me Up» a little need more liquor kick, amaretto or frangelico is my recommendation, since I barely notice alcohol on this dessert, however the winning dish for tonight is the sticky date pudding, absolute winner and you must try! If only I have space in my greedy tummy, I would like to order more just for my self! Service: Was very attentive, waitress always check on every sequence meal if everything’s ok, well done!

Hugo’s was definitely a great way to end an evening in Manly. The restaurant is on the wharf with open areas so you can watch the sunset. I recommend making a reservation for outside. There is an outside deck with beautiful views. However, the rest of the restaurant has wonderful views as well. There really is no bad seat here. The food is also quite delicious. The side avocado salad is amazing. We also enjoyed the mushroom pizza. I was a bit surprised there wasn’t tomato sauce, but maybe that’s not traditional here? I would return if I am ever here again!

Ducked in to the bar for a quick drink and dinner before the ferry. The staff was super friendly and prompt. The oysters natural were great and the yellowtail crostini satisfied my hunger. Great experience!

Hugo’s is a cute restaurant in Manly right on the water. The restaurant is open-air and serves pizza and seafood. We made a reservation for 7PM on a Tuesday evening. When we arrived, we were seated immediately in a table with beach and harbor views. Our server was OK — she didn’t seem to know a ton about the menu(more on that later) but she was attentive and seemed to always be around our general area. We ordered some drinks, appetizers, and entrees. For the appetizers, we got both types of oysters(regular oysters with sherry/shallot mignonette and a fried one with horseradish and caviar). I don’t eat horseradish so I only tried the former, but everyone else seemed to enjoy the fried one. I liked the natural oysters a lot; we were off to a good start. We each ordered a personal pizza. They were all served as thin crust. One pizza is enough to feed one person, and each is in the 20 – 30 $ range. We ordered: –Mushroom — wild mushrooms, taleggio, goat’s curd & caramelised onions –Chorizo — La Boqueria chorizo, olives, chilli, smoked mozzarella, red onions & rouille dressing –Fig — fresh figs, crispy pancetta, gorgonzola, tomato & basil –Pork — slow roasted pork belly with sweet & sour onions, radicchio & bocconcini mozzarella I ordered the mushroom pizza, and it was excellent. It was lemony and the mushrooms were fresh. I didn’t get a lot of goat cheese flavor, but it was still excellent. The chorizo pizza had a bit of a kick, and I enjoyed the meat itself. The fig pizza was interesting — the grilled tomatoes on top added to it. Didn’t get much gorgonzola, though. Lastly, the pork was OK — not my favorite. It was strangely EXTREMELY spicy, and our server didn’t know why(I found it odd that she didn’t know if it was weird for a particular pizza to be spicy or not). We asked if any of the ingredients themselves were spicy and she just shrugged. There wasn’t much mozzarella on this, either. All in all, we enjoyed most of the food and certainly enjoyed the views. The ingredients were fresh and all added to the pizza. We heard that the dessert pizza was really good, but we didn’t have any room left for it. Maybe next time!

I’m always surprised when I hear this place is awesome, because it couldn’t be further from the truth for it’s price point. I’ve only been here multiple times due to birthday invites etc and not by choice. The service I always find is very slack, orders are wrong too many people hover your table and confusing what you drinking(to the extent of pour two different wines into the same glass) The food is average, and in saying that it should be VERY good for the amount you are paying. All in all the view is amazing but that’s all this place has going when it comes to eating out. Not worth the money…

Loved this restaurant with really attentive staff. The food was beautifully prepared and presented despite the fact that it was extremely busy. Sitting outside under the umbrellas was lovely watching the ferries roll in was a a lovely experience. Can’t say enough about the kingfish carpaccio — wow! And the pizzas were crispy and full of flavour. A storm blew in and we had prompt extra umbrellas and rugs. Thank you to the young waiter with the blonde hair who looked after us so attentively right through the storm.

Great location for a drink before getting on ferry or after getting off ferry. I had an espresso martini recommended by my friend who took me here. She wasn’t impressed by it. I thought it was a smooth cocktail with a nice amount of espresso. Not my favorite drink but def didn’t hate it. She said the mixing wasn’t right and it should’ve been incorporated better. Oh well. They were very busy with the Friday evening crowds.

It’s a beautiful restaurant with a great location on the wharf, but outside of that I wasn’t impressed. We shared a glass of pinot noir and a cheese plate and the total was $ 50… The food and wine were OK but nothing to warrant that price tag! The pizzas around us looked good so maybe I would suggest one of those, or to just acknowledge that you are having a very expensive snack!

Fabulous in every regard. Maybe the best in Manly. Our lunch was exceptional. We had a bottle of a great Claire Valley white to start and some fresh baked bread with a dish of olive oil. For our starter we shared king prawns in garlic sauce, big, tasty, perfectly grilled. Then for our main we shared angel hair pasta with yellow fin tuna. It also was perfectly prepared, with generous amounts of lightly-grilled chunks of tuna. The restaurant, on the ocean front at the ferry, had a variety of seating options. It was busy on a Friday afternoon, but they still showed us our choices of tables. We sat side by side with a terrific harbor view and good people watching. Service was top notch(by Australian standards). The décor was clean, contemporary, and upscale without being overdone. It was as pleasant a lunch as could be imanged,

Stopped for lunch in hugos after wandering around manly for the day. Great spot by the water watching the ferries coming and going. Started with a salt and pepper octopus followed it with a cracking ham pizza and mushrooms. Everything was very tasty and the service was attentive but not overly so. All in all a very solid choice.

Whether you’re actually trekking out to Manly, or just taking a ferry ride from Circular Quay to see the harbor, Hugo’s is a really convenient place to grab a bite to eat on the water since it’s attached to the Manly ferry dock. As a former New Yorker, I have to mildly hate on its pizza, but it’s probably better than I want it to be! It’s a bit expensive, but you’re paying for the great waterfront atmosphere, which is trendy and cool. Food: 4⁄5 Value: 3⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Atmosphere: 5⁄5

Fantastic setting & Service! By far the most enjoyable meal in Sydney yet! Tables really comfortable, we got to lounge at our table on the deck from 4.30 til 7.15pm, enjoying Antipasti, jugs of Pimms & beers, followed by mains! Plus we even got to experience sunset, which is a must from this location! Thank you so much, thoroughly enjoyable afternoon!!!

It’s a lovely spot, right on the wharf. And it’s got a bustling, buzzy atmosphere. The pizzas we had were OK, but weren’t any better than anywhere else, and much less impressive than many of the spots in Haberfield or Lane Cove. Especially for the price. And my god the place is full of trendy posers. It felt like about half of them were here for dinner because it’s the place to be seen in Manly. Service was quite good, though, they took good care of us. And the wine list is pretty spesh. A mixed bag all in all, but as value for money, it’s not quite there.

Taking a day trip(ferry ride) from Sydney to Manly is an absolute must! Just as you exit the ferry, to your left, you’ll find Hugos. A very clean, stylish restaurant/bar perched right on the water. You can’t beat the location, the service is solid(a rarity in Oz), and the food and drinks are good too. I went with a chorizo pizza and enjoyed it. It’s not gonna blow you away, but it was very good. A great spot to relax prior to shopping your way through the promenade towards the beach.
