Nothing too esoteric. Owner Clinton Hart has a real passion for books, craft and music, and yes it definitely shows. Prior to owning Jewels of Wisdom, Clinton used to run a health food store. World literature and self help books can be found at this neat and well organised establishment. This establishment is in a perfect location at Manly, just a short stroll away from the iconic Manly Ferry. Jewels of Wisdom is known for the greeting cards and beautiful gemstone jewellery it sells. Many of their customers have dubbed their greeting cards among one of the best places to buy high quality greeting cards in Sydney. There is an area for crystals too. Clinton helps people use their own intuition to be able to choose the right crystal for them. Furthermore, Jewels of Wisdom is also home to three gifted resident psychics; Carol Ann, Deb and Rebekah who provide useful insights into where things are at for you right now — whether it is for your life and/or your business. If you are needing assistance with relationships, money and career — then why not also engage in a tarot card reading/clairvoyant session with one of these three beautiful women. Definitely not your run of the mill hippy new age shop. A grounded, down to earth establishment that has been around for 20 years. Clinton is also thinking about organising a top notch 21st birthday celebration for this establishment in the second half of 2012.

Every suburb has one of these. A little folksy, artsy, South-East Asian-y store with incense wafting out the door seductively. I can never walk past one without going in. Here, you’ll find plenty of woven tote bags, candles, candle-holders, lanterns, and various home decorations, such as wind chimes, and bead-curtains and ornamental lights of of great variety. You’ll also find little figurines; ceramic, bronze, gold-plated, everything. Figurines of Indian goddesses, of Buddha, of nameless little nymphs or elephants. Elephants seem to be a prevailing motif. There’s also some terribly overpriced jewelry, various greeting cards and postcards(which seem a little out of place, to be honest) and of course, lots of incense. I love these shops, you can always find something interesting, even if most of it is wildly out of your budget.

This is a great new age store that many don’t seem to notice when they’re walking along the corso at manly. I remember visiting this store occasionally in high school after spending a day at the beach with friends. We’d usually pop in here and browse the good selection of books and jewellery sections before jumping on the ferry back home. After a random trip to Manly the other day and a return trip to this store it was good to see not much had changed, there was still a good selection of new age and spiritual books, more crystals than I’d noticed before and psychic and tarot card readings too. The people here are friendly and helpful. A good store to visit when you when you’re strolling around Manly.
