History

Established in 2009.

The concept of Designer Pinboards Australia was developed by Kathy Joyce and David Heads. Kathy is a leading interior designer who owns her owned Sydney interior design business, Devise Décor for 16 years; and David is a renowned designer of bespoke cabinet designs who owns his own Sydney project management business, Symbiosis Projects.

The reason

Kathy and David felt compelled to design and develop Designer Pinboards because of the lack of good quality, inspiring notice boards. They were simply tired of poorly made, cheap-​looking and boring pinboards!

The hard work

After 3 years of research and development, Kathy and David created the ultimate pinboard. Not only was it functional, but it was like a piece of art in itself. They were also careful to only source renewable, recyclable and sustainable materials for their pinboards.

The inspiration

Kathy and David draw inspiration from their design experience and expertise, as well as drawing inspiration from the beauty in nature.

By the age of 12 I knew I was going to be an interior designer; even before I knew what an interior designer was! After applying to the only Interior Design Course in Australia at the time, with a strict policy of not accepting anyone under the age of 25 years (How times have changed!), I was accepted at the age of 18 years.

Now with 24 years experience as a qualified Interior Designer (17 years owner/​operator of Devise Décor Interior Design Consultants) I have had the privilege of being able to live my dream and design interiors & products for amazing people that share my vision.

In the 2012 the leap from Interior Design Consultant to designing, manufacturing and retailing my own interior product designs (with David Heads) was a natural progression. My aim has always been to make a well designed item once and make it well. I am committed to Australian designed and Australian Made.
