History
Established in 1912.
Established in 1912, d’Arenberg is one of Australia’s most colourful wineries. It has a reputation for using traditional methods in the vineyard and winery to create distinctive and dynamic wines.
The current custodians are third generation statesman, d’Arry Osborn, and fourth generation, Chester Osborn. Chester tends the McLaren Vale vineyards purchased and established by his great grandfather, managing them in a similar way he avoids soil cultivation, uses minimal or no irrigation and refuses to fertilize. He makes wine in the cellars built by his grandfather and employs time honoured techniques such as open fermentation, foot treading and the exclusive use of basket presses.
Chester proudly bottles the eclectic and extensive range of d’Arenberg wines under the red stripe created by his father.

Business Owner
Chester’s influence permeates every corner of the d’Arenberg winery and every inch of its vineyard. His methods are idealistic and labour intensive with a singular focus on creating outstanding wines.
The result of this unwavering vision is a host of awards and accolades, but more importantly, an inspiring portfolio of strikingly individual and soulful wines.
