Also our bar is always stocked with alcoholic beverages to wash down your tasty meal and while your here why not have an ‘Affogato’ for dessert.

History

Established in 2008.

Affogato was started in November 2008 to provide busy city workers with great food and coffee in the same relaxed atmosphere as your local suburban café but in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. Our aim is to cater for the vegetarian, Gluten Free and just the plain hungry.

Had a delicious breakfast here. I ordered the affogato eggs and they keep it simple, with the components kept separate. Brilliant hollandaise.

I had a really nice breakfast here and it is conveniently located in a laneway in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD a walk from my hotel.
The staff seemed a little careless and knocked things over a lot though. What was a little bit of a disappointment to me was… this place is called Affogato. The Affogato should be really awesome. So I thought when I ordered one… but it tasted like they hadn’t really cleaned the coffee machine out for years. The coffee was actually a little sour and off… so much so it put me off even complaining at the time… as I didn’t want to risk another one. My friend’s cappuccino was off too.
It is a bit of a downer when the place is called something which isn’t up to par. Other than that, the flowers on the table were a nice touch.

Had a delightful late breakfast here! It was one of many cafés down Hardware Lane and I chose it because of it’s retro décor and cute fresh country flowers on the tables. It was quiet when we arrived after 11 30 but they still had a mini all day breakfast menu as well as their lunch options, after their main breakfast menu finished at 11 and the café was full by the time we left. I ordered the healthy breakfast which was delicious but the highlight was the exceptional service by the friendly and attentive waiter!

ok, so this place on hardware road that is ALWAYS the busiest for breakfast. It is that way for a good reason — great food! Well worth a visit — cheap & tasty. Recommended! No idea why it doesn’t have 4 – 5 stars

This is hands-​down the best breakfast place on Hardware lane, and perhaps in the CBD. Been here at least 3 times in a week and have been really impressed with the coffees as well as the breakfasts which are spot on. Really nice to have avocado with everything and the Kasoundi eggs are a really amazing combination of peppery sauce, avocado, poached (fresh) eggs, thick-​cut bacon, spinach, and zucchini fritters. Breakfast specials are more of the same and although you can order the boring default breakfasts if you like, go for the stuff on the last menu page and you will not regret it. Proud to earn the Duke title for this lovely establishment. Service can be a bit slow, but the food is worth the wait.

French toast with bacon and maple syrup was pretty nice. Long black was also good. Service was very friendly although slow, food took a while to arrive due to the morning rush hour.

Went here once in Feb 2012. Poor experience. Thought I’d order safely and went with a salad. Came absolutely drenched in pre-​packed sauce.
Staff appeared to be overwhelmed with a fairly small number of customers.
There’s people lining up 300m away at Hardware Societe and constantly free tables here for a reason.
Coffee is surprisingly poor given the namesake.
