My work colleagues and I always walk on Tuesday afternoons. This time we ventured from the MCG to Birrarung Marr. It is really such a tranquil walk, the regular joggers or bike riders are friendly. The sounds of the bells are quite calming to listen to, breaking away from the thoughts of work. Either sitting on a bench watching the rowers train on the Yarra or possibly just people watching! Recommended: Walk away from the desk and go outside!

Birrarung Marr is an absolutely beautiful park — not the typical garden, just wide open green spaces with great views of the city along the Yarra River. What a wonderful location. ~ Relax on the field. ~ Play in the Birrarung Marr Playground. ~ Have a look at ArtPlay! ~ Admire indigenous artwork. Just relax, and love life in general. It’s hard not to in such a beautiful place. It’s a spot like Birrarung Marr that makes Melbourne one of the most livable, wonderful cities of the world.

Thank God for the Birrarung Marr playground, is all I can say! If it wasn’t for this magnificent, magical playground next to Fed Square, I’d doubt my kids would be as excited going into the city. The playground is every kids dream, large, open, spacious and plenty of fun for kids of all ages and of all abilities. The first thing the kids(and adults) notice on arrival is the massive, shaded ramp/slide/steps area. It’s fantastic and safe with rubber flooring and allows even small kids to climb the steep slope, and the slides look giant from the top! It also features a climbing dome, and massive sort of outdoor cubby complete with activity panels and rock and rope climbing, balance beams, two awesome swinging hammocks, sand pits, steering wheels at the top of the cubby… it seriously is the playground with everything. I also love the liberty swing, which is a swing accessible for kids in wheelchairs. Particularly if you’re looking for somewhere to stop and eat with the kids or just to have a break, Birrarung Marr is the best place to go in the city. Give the kids 30 minutes here and I guarantee it’ll buy you an extra hour at least in the shops. Just don’t let the little angels wear themselves out to the point they can’t walk any longer!
