I just realized that ‘this’ Brunetti location wasn’t the one I thought I saw on Unilocal(the other one had higher ratings and more positive reviews). Ordered flat white coffee and it was great!!! I like my coffee with a lot of cream/milk. I also ordered the lemon meringue tart and it was ok. It was recommended by the clerk. A little too sweet(for me) but with the sugarless coffee, it gave it a good balance. It was very busy that afternoon. I waited for 5 minutes or so and realized that they actually forgot my coffee(never called my order #). The staff appeared to be friendly though.

Taste of Italy in the heart of melb. Wanna a great coffee, look no further. Alfresco setting with great tasting coffee. Doesn’t leave u with that full bloated feeling that is a trap for young baristas who use way too much milk.

Was visiting Melbourne for just a couple of days and had a couple of friends who raved about this place, the location is great but the coffee was a little average. I can think of a number of other places where you can get a better coffee. The cakes/chocolates were okay but not enough to make me come back in a hurry.

Would agree it’s a pretty touristy spot for those who don’t have an amazing app like Unilocal to get to the best coffee in Melbourne. Great location but average coffee. It’s a place where it’s right in the middle of everything and everyone, I’m not surprised there is pretty busy. But I have tasted better coffee in Melbourne, that’s for sure. The dessert/cakes were okay. Not good enough to make you think«ah, I should come back again for the cakes.» Rude was not the right word for the staff, as some of the other reviews suggested. I believe it’s not a lack of passion. People in Melbourne take coffee very seriously, but I couldn’t see the staff being one of them. Anyway. If you are touring around Melbourne and you want some«safe choice» for coffee just you like Starbucks being your safe choices in the States, then yeah, you probably wouldn’t have a problem with this joint.

Went to Brunetti the first time 5 years ago on a visit to Melbourne and loved it so much, we returned again today. Coffee(Long Black) great. Sweets are divine little treats. Flinders Lane has less variety than Lygon Street, still enough to make it difficult to decide. They have some smaller size versions of larger sized treats, to enable you to try more. Café seating is outside and mostly under cover. Its elevated from street level, giving a good view over Swanson street foot traffic. We were there at 3pm, it was busy but they still had a good selection, coffee was ready in about 3 mins. Staff not overly friendly, but efficient. A nice treat in the central city area.

Been there y’day, and was shocked to see how rude their staff is. They were all sounding very frustrated, and were yelling at customers. Understand they could be a bit under pressure — because of it being so crowded that time — but that’s not an excuse to misbehave with others, let alone your customers. Ended up not buying anything, and have decided to not go there again.

I just stop in for coffee on the way to work at the Princess Theatre. The coffee is consistently good and the wait is never too long.

Every time I see Brunetti I have this sudden urge to buy a cannoli. My secret shame. One lovely night(I lie, it was cold and started to rain), I managed to wonder over to buy a Cannoli Cioccolato and a Cannoli Vaniglia. Service was fast and the cannoli was nice. I really wanted the Cannoli Ricotta, but alas, it was not meant to be, sad face. That was my cannoli adventure. Short, not filled with any dangerous crowd hating cannoli party poopers or any romantic ‘head for the hills’ type of escapades. It’s convenience, the location of Brunetti for my cannoli addiction is just wonderful.

It’s not always about food, or even drinks, it’s sometimes about location relative to price. For such a great location to meet up with friends, the price of coffee it charges seem cheap. If this was in Paris, like Café de Flore, the place would be charging twice as much and i would not feel jipped. A great place to watch every kind of people, and kids can run around in the artificial creek. In the morning, there’s a basket full of cake mosels for free to go with the fresh made coffee. Not meant for cup to go, but casually read paper in the morning, sip a coffee, and enjoy watching the Melbourne morning. Just dont expect great food or coffee — enjoy the city air.

There is so much Coffee in Melbourne, that after having tried it in at least 30 different places(I decided to try a new place everyday for a month), I was just craving for some Hot chocolate. At brunetti’s they make the meanest most devilish hot chocolate ever. It is Rich and super thick. Just the way I love them! Oh my, I could sit with my chocolate cup for hours, which I did, partly because i was relishing it and partly because this is one of the nicest spots in Melbourne to people watch. It is located slightly above the street and being an open café, you can see people walking hurriedly along, possibly towards Flinders Station. The service is good and the staff are friendly but don’t ask them what’s good? — because they will mockingly reply«Everything is» and I’ve not tried everything on their menu, but the few items I did taste, I enjoyed. Maybe there’s some honesty in their statement.

There is a lot of metal here… tables and chairs, and that is a good thing as the establishment has a name of its own in a cosmopolitan setting. A small, slightly crowded and busy quality café at Flinders Lane and Swanston Streets. It is so worth it. I haven’t had my best latte here, however it is a great establishment to have a coffee and a chat with someone; ideally someone who you have not seen in a while. Time will just fly. An hour, even two hours will go by and you will just want another coffee. Oh yeah, and just remember the sugar because you will need it. It is great to have an umbrella above me to keep the sun(and even wind at times) at bay. Not quite full table service; you are given a number and when your coffee(and food) is ready, you need to come up and collect it. A little bit of a stretch, however their coffee is reasonably priced. A great establishment to come to time and time again, although not in a hurry as there is much better coffee available in Melbourne; however for the location you can’t go wrong with friendly staff to boot. Not a raving fan but a small fan nonetheless.

Y’know, Brunetti is one Melbourne institution I just can’t quite get behind. I know a lot of people love it, but I just don’t quite get why. The coffee’s good enough, but that’s not exactly a rarity in Melbourne. And the little biscuits they offer tend to be a bit flat and lifeless, to me. Yet I know people who swear by them. It’s confusing. Maybe it’s that they’re going to the original up near Melbourne uni, and I’ve spend most of my time at the franchise in the CBD. Maybe it’s that my taste for coffee isn’t that finely differentiated. Don’t know. All I know is that, given the choice between Brunettis and somewhere on Degraves Lane, I’ll take Degraves nine times out of ten.
