Charles Rose specialize in fine hand made diamond engagement rings and jewellery. We carry Melbourne’s largest range of premium grade fine diamonds. We are a bespoke jeweller, with a team of master artisans. We are a significant design house and make in all precious metals, including platinum.

History

Established in 1923.

The origin of Charles Rose reach back to pre-​war Europe in an unbroken line of the Rose family. In 1923 Charles Rose established an atelier in Metz France near the Luxembourg border. It was a small workshop, and Charles worked alone perfecting his craft. In 1924 his brother Nathan joined him and together they found success, trading in fine diamonds and crafting hand made items for a growing clientele.

In 1934 the two brothers moved to Paris and established a reputation as designers of the finest quality jewellery. After the German invasion of France in May 1940 Charles fled to join the Resistance. He was killed in the Pyrenees near the border of France and Spain. Nathan’s son Frederick carried on the tradition and Nathan’s grandson, Marcus, introduced the ethos of Charles Rose to Australia.

Marcus Rose studied at Monash University and completed a course in fine art from the Victorian College of the Arts. Marcus is the founder of Charles Rose in Australia.
