Like going back in time. No wifi and charge a fee for using your card to pay.
Service is usually great but seriously… this is 2016 and you’re in the heart of the financial district!

Came on a sunny busy Friday night after work, the music was too loud and there was no room to stand or sit. Not sure this is the place for great conversation on a Friday after work drinks.

Across the street from the Grand Hyatt on Collins the Benster and I stopped in here for an dinner drink and I am glad we did.
The open air garden in the middle of Collins Street is a nice respite from the busy city life and noise.
Once again I couldn’t get a full body Cab in this country, but the Cab/​Merlot blend was soothing.
We did not eat anything so this review is really just based on the ambiance and my drink! I definitely would go back and try the food though!

An old time Friday fave for knock of drinks. Never fails to deliver, great service amazing wine list and a good crowd and vibe. Music just right. The front bar is my favourite with the back bar a place for the hipsters of Collins street! A good trusty bar with great clientele.

I have no idea how many times I walked past Collins Quarter before actually trying it.
They are open breakfast, lunch and dinner, making anytime a good time to try them out. They have a good selection of whiskeys, and the food is well above par.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I love the décor: the tiling, a more traditional bar — with brass foot-​pole, and the period entrance in an historic building make the atmosphere all the better. The smiling staff don’t take away from the place, either :)
So far, i’ve only taken the breakfast and coffee for a spin, but I am excited by both, and plan on going back.

My first visit to this bar and what a great place! We wandered in off the street and were impressed by the great service, lovely décor and yummy cocktails. For a Saturday night, the bar was quiet, but we were told that some evenings are very busy.
The bar staff take their trade very seriously, serving gorgeous cocktails, plus wines and beers from an extremely extensive drinks menu.
They offer a small interesting snack menu at the bar. There is a restaurant at the back.
I will return another time for sure.

This place has two of my favourite things. A sneaky side entrance and a small, delicate and accommodating menu. The décor is welcoming and you could see by the patronage that this place is popular for those discreet yet liberated meetings.
High booths offer a great sound barrier to other dinners and generally gave our party the feeling of false intimacy.
The menu doesn’t have a lot to offer, at a one pager, but they really have nailed down the selections to keep everyone pleased. Even with a vegan beetroot salad option.
Sadly past the nice booth and menu there was a lot left to be desired. I felt as if we were being experimented on with Training Day Tuesday. The staff here were very rough. Our initial waitress was friendly and clearly trying her best, even struggling through the specials menu twice for us. Our meals turned up as ordered, as did our first round of drinks.
The meals were served in a timely fashion and everyone in our group was happy with what was ordered.
The Manager-​looking lady would have been more suited to hosting a McDonalds children’s party than serving in a high end of town restaurant. Rushed in, yelled at us and rushed away.
We did really seem to rub the staff the wrong way with our coffee order. The waitress who slammed the incorrect coffees onto the table, attempted three times to force a flat white onto the only tea drinker in our group. Ultimately resulting in spilt coffee on our table. Despite calmly explaining the mishap we still ended up with the incorrect spilt coffees.
It also seemed quite a hassle to get the bill. Bouncing manager lady was happy to say yes to this request but never returned.

It’s like walking into a stylish and warm living room of a character home with solid timber floors, high ceilings and ambient fireplace. If you walk a little further there is a huge conservatory area with large glass walls. A venue of class and character and defiantely a great place to be warm and share a beverage or two with friends. I can’t speak of the food as we only shared a bottle of wine, but a quick scan of the menu and I reckon that they had some good offerenings.
I imagine a great place on a Friday night for after work drinks or if you are a traveller a nice place to soak up the Melbourne Collins Street vibe.

Had an amazing juicy medium rare 250 gram angus steak with house chips and a glass of red. It was delicious! Must try!

Still yet to be convinced as to what I should be writing for this place,
It looks really on the money with all the cute booths things, and it’s
an upmarket place, of my preferred venues, but because I haven’t
seen it in a calm setting, I have to go by the occasion on which I visited.
As far as stupid decisions go, I think I win the gold medal. «I Know what
would be a really great idea, lets come here at 5:30pm on a Friday night,
when it’s absolutely packed with corporate suits!» Joy! Yay! There was
more people packed into this place than there was at an AFL Grand final!
Absolute bedlam and it really detracts from an otherwise pleasant experience.
But the venue looks impressive, good staff, nice choice of drinks and so-​forth,
I should come back when I can take it all in properly, and am not heaving through
and endless onslaught of people, people, people everywhere.

I constantly commute up and down Collins Street during the business day and this has to be one of my favourite places to stop for a quick bite (I’ve even been known to try and move business meetings to one of the booths). Although I have heard that it can be a little bit loud during after work drinks.
You have options here, everyone likes options! There is two different types of atmosphere, the dining room stiff chair experience with a wonderful courtyard view and more attention from the wait staff, probably because of the easy line of site. Or you can choose for the booths along the wall, mostly hidden by a supporting wall that they’ve cut holes out of as much as possible. I prefer the booth.
What you loose in service standard (in time only) you make up for in reduced noise, nicer ambience and seriously comfortable dining. It is true that you will have to work harder for attention but if you grew up with brothers and sisters I’m sure you’ll be fine.
Like many places in the Paris end of town this spot has a wonderful wine list and there’s something good for everyone (from $ 47 to ~$ 1k) and most of the people there can help you with matching wine to your food. If not, have the steak, it’s yummy (professional term).
Seriously though, I strongly recommend sitting in a booth with your work colleagues with a bottle of wine and a burger, it makes any disagreement you’re having seem much more trivial and by the time you reach the dregs of the second bottle I’m sure they’ll see it your way ;-)

Suits everywhere. I went here with my girlfriend at the time, and the men could not take their eyes off her. I went to the bathroom and came back and about 5, 40 year olds were chatting her up.
Prior to that I’d been here a couple of times and have enjoyed it when it’s not Friday after work drinks. They make an incredible Pims at an affordable price. Nice big smoking area. Smooth interior
Where’s the actual entrance? I’ve only ever come in through Pink Ally. I think it’s Pink Ally?

Next time you’re at the top end of Collins Street, keep your eyes open for the entrance and check this place out.
The restaurant itself has fed me on a number of occasions — solid food, with a leaning towards meaty stuff (Yay! Charcuterie!) and things to share like miniature meat pies and croquettes. With the dark wood and leather, and more suits than you can poke a stick at, it sometimes feels a bit corporate and isn’t perhaps the place I’d come on a date or with the girls. For lunch meetings, though, it’s perfect.
The back courtyard is a different story altogether. I’m a big fan of a mid-​week after-​work drink or a weekend session before heading out for an evening. They have a reasonable stocked bar (read: plenty of gin), a good selection of beers on tap and plenty of different spaces to sit and enjoy them.

Melbourne’s CBD offers a mixed bag of pubs. From venues catering to the high visibility crowd to the young corporate set — a variety of tastes are well serviced.
Collins Quarter fits the more upscale city pub theme. There is no TAB or pokies here. I particularly like the architecturally designed courtyard with its industrial feel and retractable glass roof. It’s the perfect place to sit back and catch up with friends and do some people watching too.
The restaurant offers a full service selection of food, from bars snacks to main meals and plenty of seasonal offerings. An upcoming Saturday afternoon menu promises, for example, suckling pig rolls to be washed down with freshly brewed beer from Mildura. The service is a winner too — casual, yet attentive.
In a uniquely Melbourne way, Collins Quarter can be entered via an alleyway (Pink Alley) and it can also be accessed directly via Collins St. Worth a visit!
