When I travel, I love to pick up unique pieces of jewelry all around the world, for when people comment on those unique pieces, I’m able to tell the story of where it came from and and remember the fun of the trip. Plus the benefit of jewelry is that it doesn’t take up much space in my suitcase! I love artist created jewelry. The pieces are always one of a kind and that is the kind of jewelry that eg etal carries. Located in the basement shop, this store has the jewelery on display(you can also view and order the pieces on line) and the helpful staff will open the cases and assist you in finding the right piece. The range of artists that they carry ensures that there is something for everyone in this shop. And know that the pricing varies so if one piece seems too expensive(perhaps due to the metals used) ask the staff as they may be able to find something in your price range. All in all, a great place to find some unique jewelery for you or for that special someone.

I took C. into E.g.etal to see if anything caught her interest. I’d been in there to see an exhibition that was part of the Melbourne Fashion Festival and had admired all the individual cases by different jewelery designers. And I thought that C. should see the shop. There is some great high quality pieces of jewelery, some of it is very quirky and all of it unique. The staff are very helpful and well informed about the individual pieces. But none of it was just right for C. still neither of us regretted the time window shopping amongst the glass vitrines of jewelery in E.g.etal.

Eg Etal is actually more like a gallery for jewellers than a regular jewellery store. Nothing is made on site(but everything is made locally). Pieces are displayed, which can be bought, but in many cases are made specially to order. My husband and I had wedding rings made by a jeweller displayed at Eg Etal. Because they’re custom made, both our rings are made from the same piece of metal — mine with sixteen stones and his with sixteen diamonds(I’ll let you guess the date we got married). If mainstream jewellery is more your speed, this isn’t the store for you. If you’re looking for something that has a unique, artistic element to it though, Eg Etal is a great place to look.
