I had Oporto for lunch at the QV and it definitely wasn’t bad, but far from amazing. To be fair, it is a basic takeaway chain, but if McDonald’s can toss out delicious burgers, I believe Oporto has the potential to toss out delicious chicken. Atmosphere: This shop is located on the food court level of the QV centre, so there’s ample seating and plenty of things to do around. Food: I ordered the ½ Chicken with chips, and lemon and herb sauce. I also threw in a side of Mashed Potatoes & Gravy because it’s one of my favourite dishes — regardless of quality. ~ Chicken — The chicken was cooked nicely, but was incredibly bland. They barely used any flavouring on the skin and it just tasted like plainly cooked chicken. Thankfully, I had the sauce and potatoes to make up for it, but was a bit disappointed with the outcome. ~ Chips — The only really decently delicious part of my meal, to be quite honest. But then again, it’s really difficult to go wrong with chips. ~ Mashed Potatoes & Gravy — It came out cold. What the hell? — Thankfully the prices weren’t too outrageous so I didn’t feel ripped off. I shouldn’t expect something delicious since it’s a takeaway, but I can get better chicken from a tiny dingy little chicken shop. Oporto has the ingredients and takeaway or not, there’s no reason why it cannot do the same.
