Quest Fairfax House

We managed to pull a pretty good last minute deal. And for that, I am very thankful to Quest. However, there were a few problems with our experience;
— We arrived very late on a Friday night, after reception had closed, so would let ourselves in using a key from the key safe. The instructions were incomplete and we had trouble finding our room. Thankfully there was a 24hr number we could call for assistance.
— We were advised that we would be staying in one room for the first night and a different room for the remaining two nights. We were told to go down to reception on the Saturday morning to get the keys to our new room. Packed up the first room, went down to reception, to be told that we would keep this room for the entire stay. Doh! This would have been of little inconvenience if it wasn’t for the fact that we got up early – after little sleep due to the late arrival – to facilitate the room swap. Some notice of the change of plan would have been appreciated.
— The room, while clean, was a bit scruffy. The shower screen was cracked in a few places. The blinds were filthy. Overall, quite acceptable though.
— Our room was serviced the first day, so we deduced that it would be serviced the second day. Thus, we left the towels out to be changed. The room was not serviced on the second day.
— We were warned that the room was in a noisy part of the hotel, especially on a Friday and Saturday night. They weren’t wrong. But that was okay as we live in a busy, noisy part of a city. We’re used to it.
Question is, would we stay here again? I say maybe. If we booked further in advance, for our budget, we’d have a plethora of other, presumably better, hotels to choose from. But for the price that we paid, and would pay if booked earlier, it was good and may be worth a shot again.
