I love a Frappuccino, with cream on top if i’m feeling indulgent. Not so keen on the hot beverages or food at Starbucks though. I think I’ve tried all the Starbucks in the CBD and the quality of the drinks varies every time. My most recent visit allowed me to redeem a voucher for a free drink after an error the last time that I was there. Sometimes I do wonder why they ask questions when they appear to pay no attention to your response. In this case the cream question… to which I had asked for a drink without cream(New Years resolutions & all that), the cream was scraped off the top and the drink presented to me again. If I had been particularly fussy I ‘d have asked for a completely fresh one but a hint of cream was okay by me!!! No doubt I’ll be back for more Frappuccino’s.

As an American, I’m drawn to this coffee chain and am definitely glutton for punishment. I think about the cold days when I would stop by Starbucks on my way to work and get a nice warm chai latte… and then I moved to Melbourne where majority of the coffee shops seem to be WAY better than Starbucks. I have to admit, the location of this Starbucks is perfect because to the lazy eye, there is no where else I would want to go. If you need a quick hot drink before getting on or just as you’re getting off the tram, they’re right there. Too easy. The staff here are quite friendly and they honestly look like they enjoy their job, but I have to admit they are quite slow on the service end. The coffee will come from one end of the counter and if you’re getting some type of food it’ll come from the other side, which does confuse a bit. Not much consistency with the drink flavours either. One day a drink will taste one way and the next it might be too sweet, or the mix they use might have been added in a bigger quantities. It definitely seems like there’s a lot better places to spend $ 4+ on a coffee if you have the time and the knowledge.

Eeek. There is one toilet and its very poorly maintained. Maybe on par with the hole in the ground toilet you find driving cross state. I decided to walk away. Quickly. The only if any redeeming factor is the friendliness of staff. Starbucks is letting these guys down.

Of the Starbucks locations in Melbourne, this is our favourite — but that’s largely because it hasn’t been completely worn down like the other two have. The high turnover of students and tourists looking for a familiar fix takes its toll upon the facilities, and this location is still new enough to enjoy a bit of a shine. Same Starbucks menu(for better or for worse) as other locations, and, I must admit, about the only time we come here now(there being so many spectacular coffee options in Melbourne) is on the days when everyone else is closed up and Starbucks still wants your, well, bucks. Reliable, consistent, and I enjoy the odd flavour twists that you can get at Starbucks.

Nice, clean and brand new Starbucks. The staff are friendly and quick. If you’re a sweet tooth, they don’t skimp of the extra caramel and whipped cream for your fraps.
