Terra Rossa Restaurant & Bar

Solid Italian food for dinner. I had the potato gnocchi which was very smooth and soft with a great sauce. My friends had the barramundi special (great), squid ink linguine (nice but doughy pasta), and tagliatelle which was nice. The red wine was also good and service was attentive

We headed here as were given a progressive dinner as a gift. This was the venue for our entrée.
It was quite busy, not too noisy and pretty warm. Some guests were very smartly dressed and others were very casual.
They modified the antipasto plate as we don’t eat meat so fish was added instead which was a good compromise.
Service was efficient, but after we were given our food no-​one came around to see if we wanted more drinks.
Food was nice, nothing spectacular though, run of the mill and the anchovies were extremely acidic, as were the zucchini and onions. Way too much vinegar in my opinion.
Wouldn’t really head back as there are plenty of better places around.

Great staff. Very busy for a Tuesday. Pizza Special was tasty. A little lacking on topping.

Terra Rosa is always a bit hit and miss for me, and tonight was no exception with mind blowing bone marrow and meh sardines. As my friends know I am a bit of a dolce girl so I was pleased my lemon tart was one of the stand outs for the night!

You walk in and the first thing you notice is the incredible smell of garlic and basil. The second thing you notice are the super beautiful mostly male Italian staff. They’ll soon have you planning a trip to Italy.
Terra Rossa is down the Paris end of little flinders street. The restaurant is quite spacious, high ceilings, chandeliers, exposed brick very less is more but just enough. Stylish plus.
Now the food. Tonight we were a group of 4. One of us had food allergies. The waitress was nice about leaving off certain condiments but really there wasn’t much on offer for my poor friend who, after much discussion with waitress, ended up ordering a steak. (As we walked home after dinner I asked her if she liked the restaurant. She said she didn’t and that she was sick of having to order the steak everywhere cause options for her were so limited and restaurant not really accomodating — just saying).
The other 3 of us shared a bottle of Shiraz which was very nice. We ordered 4 anti pasta dishes. The bone marrow was sublime! I love that I have friends that feel the same way about food as I do! I had to resist the urge to pick up the bone and suck out the marrow. I know I wasn’t the only one!
It came with chargrilled bread and parsley salad.
The arancini with saffron was a treat. The cheese and the saffron shined. Personally I wasn’t taken by the olive jam. I thought if over powered everything else but my friends liked it.
None of us were too keen on these sardines although we all like them generally. They were a little dry by if you do order them don’t eat the heads. Too sharp and boney.
The buffalo, basil and figs were really nice. Personally I preferred the figs, basil and cress over the cheese. That’s unusual for me.
We also had the lime tart with arrived with raspberry sorbet and fresh raspberries. This dessert was Wow!
A great place to take someone you want to impress or to treat yourself. While it was quite loud between the music and the chatter, we could comfortably hold a conversation.
Overall a great night out. If you like Italian food and waiters check this place out.

A great cosy venue to spend a cool night eating tasty food from an interesting menu. Definitely recommend the slow cooked pork shoulder. The staff were friendly and helpful, serving sizes very appropriate. Décor and atmosphere also great, and as happy to be promptly welcomed in for a table on a Friday night without booking.

Yes this restaurant is visually appealing, pity it doesnt follow through the whole experience!
My friend confirmed a booking on a public holiday, of roughly 10 people & management state the booking couldnt be found.
Secondly the entre of cornbread came out still frozen.
Thirdly, Upon paying the bill, my friend is informed the card machine is not working. She was paying for the entire bill and was expected to withdraw the money from an atm across the road. The man serving her states that of the 250 people through the door that day, she is the first to complain. Not expected from someone who represents the company in the wrong!
There are plenty of other restaurants who value your buisness, my vote, dont bother here!

Good food, good atmosphere, good wine. Staff attentive and helpful. Been twice and no regrets. Not the a venue if you want quiet dining, but not excessively loud either for the volume of guests it can seat.

I’ve been here twice now, with a year in between visits. Being a Perth resident, it takes some planning for me to get here.
It’s a long, narrow establishment with bar tables at the front, proper Chesterfield couches in the middle (adj to the open fire in the cooler months) and dining tables to the rear. Staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. A good proportion of them have sexy European accents. That’s an automatic star right there. Food is well presented and tasty. The bar list engages a decent selection of national and international delights, including an healthy proportion of cocktails. Prices for the latter are a little steep, but if it’s a special occasion, such as the celebration of another Wednesday, then why hold back? I’ve enjoyed both my visits there and can see no reason to deny myself another visit. I’ll meet you on the couch. Just give me about a year’s notice.

I used to work on Flinders Lane and had been to Terra Rossa for quick lunches from time to time… I never really thought anything of it but always felt it was a nice space. After perhaps a two year hiatus I managed to revisit the but this time for after dinner cheeses… a completely different vibe! Loved it, the space comes alive in the after hours and has some neat nooks and crannies…

The atmosphere here is nice and loud with a nicely designed interior. However, the ATM at the entrance is a sight for sore eyes since everything else is looks so nice inside.
I had the risotto which I thought was too salty while my dining companions had the steak but weren’t wowed by their food. The biggest disappointment was that they were out of the one of their desserts that we were going to order at 7:30 pm.

The restaurant atmosphere and service was great. But the food lacked that wow factor. Enjoyed the night, but didn’t leave me thinking I must go back.

The food is ok here, but it’s the décor and feel of the place that makes me a fan.
That said, you must try to sit in the front as the back is a bit tight, with table after table of people packed next to each other. Also I feel like this is definitely an after dark kind of place.
The pickled mushrooms were good, but I felt like they might have been tastier if they had been served warm rather than intentionally cold. Chorizo was also good, but when is chorizo ever bad? I did enjoy the pizza (prosciutto, artichoke, olives, rocket) though it was a bit salty, as one of the other reviewers has mentioned.

I wanted to love Terra Rosse, the dimly lit front area making way for a bustling yet still romantic bigger space at the back. Friends have been and enjoyed and I’m quite partial to a pizza/​sharing menu. I also love a good red wine, which Terra Rossa had plenty of. It was cold, I was hungry (and thirsty) and I wanted it so much to be an amazing eating experience.
Unfortunately, it was not. The service was good, even a little better than good and the wine was decent. The food however was a let down. For me, the pizza was far too salty and had a fairly wet crust which is never pleasant. The flavours in the salad were reasonable but didn’t pack much of a flavour punch.
Perhaps I will go back as I feel there is so much potential for a wonderful experience, I’ll continue to monitor on Unilocal and see what the reviews say…

Just the place for dinner on a cold winter night after a day exploring Melbourne. Staff were friendly & welcoming from the moment we stepped in the door.
To start the three of us shared the bruschetta with tomato & buffalo mozzarella $ 15.50 which was gorgeous & just right in amount for a starter.
For main course I chose their gnocchi $ 20 which was beautfully soft & creamy. DH & DS both had pizza $ 21 – 23, I had a little taste of each — very tasty!
DS was the only one with room left for dessert (although he did allow me a little taste!), a wonderfully rich Tira Misu $ 14

Terra Rossa is a very classy looking restaurant located on the rapidly evolving eating hotspot of Flinders Lane. The décor is quite in your face with of dark woody tones, leather couches, reddish bricks and lights. They offer up a range of dishes with pizzas, pastas and mains with a range of fresh produce and a Mediterranean feel to them.
We were hear somewhat on the fly and wanted a quick bite to eat. The food was pretty good. The eye fillet carpaccio was really good and the sweetness of the raspberry and watermelon pickled sauce with it surprisingly complemented the dish.
Overall I was impressed. For a fairly sizeable price tag though, I think there is better offerings to have. I’m on the fence still…

We had a comedy show to go to at Town Hall and wanted to grab something nearby to eat. All of the restaurants on Flinders Lane are quite pricey (Cumulus Inc, Coda, Ezard) and some require booking. We just happened to stumble across Terra Rossa — we did the whole look at the menu, look at the price, discuss. In the end, we decided it looked good.
The outcome? I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but overall, the food was good, the service was good, and drinks were good. We started with natural oysters ($ 3.7 each) — the oysters were good, but served weird. Rather than serving it in the shell where you can taste the natural juice, they took it out of the shell and put it in something that looked like shot glasses. I wasn’t a fan of this serving method.
For our mains, we had carpaccio and duck and Portobello mushroom tortellini, which tasted great. Our meal was about $ 30-​$ 35 a person including beer/​wine. This low price has to take into account that we were in a rush and didn’t order a full entrée each, which I would normally do, and we didn’t order a bottle of wine, which I would normally do. It would have been $ 50 a person, but due to time constraints, I kept the ordering simple.
Considering we didn’t know anything about the restaurant (no friends had recommended it and I had never read anything about it), we had a great experience. Maybe I should try stumbling across random restaurants more often?
