We were walking down Lonsdale and happened to randomly come across this place. The first level was amazing ! I think it required bookings however, but the ambience can be described in two words«elegant» and«sexy». It was dimly lit, with string curtains and chandeliers. I would love to book in advance one day and experience it with my man. The rooftop bar was busy and loud but a great place to have a drink. Staff seemed really nice and cleaned up promptly when people had finished. Nothing particularly extravagant about the rooftop except I liked the faux grass and peacock paintings everywhere. All in all, not a bad place to have a beer !

I stopped here for a drink at the rooftop bar and was impressed with the overall ambience. The rooftop bar is definitely more casual than inside, lending way to enjoy a nice summer evening. Automated fans create a light breeze and the bar service was prompt. I ordered an Aperol Spritz for the first time(as the sign noted was their specialty) and was not disappointed. It was a light summer drink that hit the spot. Whilst there was a good crowd for a Friday night, it wasn’t overly crowded, so our party got seats and enjoyed the evening. If you want a more intimate environment, stay downstairs where you can quietly tuck into a booth seat. There is another bar and dancing I’ve heard but it has a really classy style and vibe. A great date spot, I can see myself coming again!

I remember sitting on the rooftop bar looking down onto what looked like another bar with a heaps cool rooftop bar(not that the rooftop bar isn’t bad, but since I love rooftop bars I was wanting to locate this place). Actually it took me quite a while, and a lot of trial and error, to actually get to this place, but I finally did — through a rather non-descript door on Lonsdale street. In fact this place is more than just a really cool rooftop bar because the first floor(they don’t have a ground floor — you have to go up a flight to stairs to get to the place) is full of nooks and crannies where you can hide away from the crowds with your friends. However it is the rooftop that really attracts me to this place. Oh, I should also mention that the staff are pretty cool, and they even have table service. I should come here more often.

The rooftop bar area is superb as it is covered and you can enjoy it even if the weather is not so perfect. There is a separate smaller bar upstairs that saves you having to go up and down to get a drink — the bar staff have a few craft beers and are happy to knock up a cocktail or two. I would rate this place higher if they had a Chef on during week nights, or even on a Thursday night. Previously, I had enjoyed the Pizzas here but was disappointed to rock up with a large group on a Thursday night and find they were not serving food. When a friend brought in a couple of bags of hot chips there was a round of applause as food was that much in demand. Also, their response and social media channels and phone is a couple of days at best so don’t expect a quick response when organising events. With improvements in communication and food I would easily rate this place a 5 as it has a great ambience to build from.

Summer time sadness is washed away at the Emerald Peacock. Great cocktail menu, complete with fashionable flowers. Helpful staff and plenty of space to spread your winds. Preen your feathers and go enjoy a drink or two here with all the other pretty people.

I only happened upon this place as the waitress at Touché Hombre(next door to Emerald Peacock) recommended I have a drink here while I waited for my table to clear. I was actually quite impressed with this place, given I had never heard of it before! It was practically empty when we arrived, even though it wasn’t that early — probably around 7.30÷8. This was nice though, it gave us a chance to explore and spread out over the couches. I loved the décor and overall atmosphere of the place, though maybe if it’s busier it wouldn’t be quite as nice. The drink prices were reasonable — about on par with most other bars of its calibre. I found the service kind of average, though nothing to deter me from visiting again. The bartender was perfectly capable, just not overly chatty. If I’m in the area it is certainly the most prefable option of the bars around!

This really needs to be called a pre-review, as I didn’t have a chance to really sample what it is that The Emerald Peacock has to offer. I was attending the goodbye bash for a colleague and must say I was quite impressed by the fact that the Peacock is open at around 1600 or so. Not that I’m advocating early drinking, I’m just saying that for those of us whose work day finishes at 1500, it’s nice not having to wait three hours to start trying to forget the pain of the day. Anyway, The Emerald Peacock is incredibly conveniently located in the CBD, and I understand they have a roof bar(didn’t make it up there), but they do have a lot of space, various comfortable chairs/stools/benches to sit upon, and extremely friendly staff. It was the staff that impressed me most. Even though they didn’t know how to make some of my favourite cocktails, there was a genuine eagerness to learn, and if I shared the ingredients, they’d be happy to have a go. I stuck with a G&T and one of their espresso martinis(very good, both) and was quite happy. They have a range of nibbles on offer, but as I was heading out to dinner, I didn’t try any. The music was a bit loud for my liking, made it tough to have a conversation without shouting, but that’s a personal taste thing, and could just have been the night I was visiting. I see it as likely that my wife and I will try this spot out together — at which point I’ll be sure to update my review. But for the experience I had tonight it definitely warranted at least the 3 stars. Looking forward to losing my sobriety there another time!

Get in early and make sure you dress up a little. A number of reasons for this: — The bouncers won’t let you in if you dress down. This has happened to my group before — You have a better chance of getting a table on the rooftop on a nice night — Easier to get a drink — It makes drinking $ 18 cocktails that much easier when you look good. This place is lovely, beautiful wall paper detail and nice comfortable areas for groups inside. Table service is offered and you can get food. Go upstairs though on a summer night and it’s survival of the fittest. It’s sometimes hot, loud, crowded and full of people jostling to get to the bar at the same time. Not all bad, means you can strike up a conversation in the line with that person you had your eye on(if that’s your thing). All in all, a nice bar, if on the expensive side for some, but still a great night out.

I’ve been here enough so I should review it. Put bluntly — this place is terrible. Expensive, crowded, soulless. The only reason people come here is because it’s close to their office and they can’t think of anywhere else to go. And in the Melbourne CBD that’s a pretty bad reason, given how many other places there are to go.

Are you in your late 20s or early 30s looking for other hot people on a Friday night? Come here. BTW, there is no cover charge(at least we went there there wasn’t). The interior is just as cool as the rooftop bar. This place is filled with gals in dresses and guys doing their thing. There is tons of cigarette smoke up top, but when the breeze picks up, it’s not so bad. Don’t half step. You can get food here in addition to booze, so hook yourself up.

We came here on a Friday night. Don’t you love the gorgeously wood carved large front doors? I really like the décor inside the lounges. Quite ornate. I felt bad for the bartender who was getting harassed by an ill-behaved drunk woman. He made deliciously crafted, strong cocktails. The Emerald Peacock — delicious, asked for less sweet and with gin, and it came out perfectly. Yes it’s a bit pricey($ 18), but the ambiance is great from the lounges to the rooftop. There’s overhead heaters and nice comfy seating. Perfect place for a night out with friends!

The Friday night crowd at Emerald Peacock can be succintly summarised into two groups — Sensis &BHP corporates who work opposite the Emerald and the rest. To be honest I do not know which crowd is worse. A Friday night venue needs to cater to the following people; corporates looking to ‘network’, corporates looking to ‘sexually network’, corporates looking to forgot about their life or wife or both and non-corporates looking to hit on corporates in suits or non-corporates looking to have pre-drinks prior to a big night out. The Emerald caters nicely to them all. Keep an eye out for all concerned a few hours later either at a cheap dumpling restaurant or Kittens in South Melbourne.

We went for after work drinks, and it was pretty good. The only downside was the beer mugs which were as heavy as lead, but luckily not actually made of lead.

One of my regular weekday evening hangouts. Nice rooftop area with heaters and reasonably priced drinks(the cocktails are a little pricey). Belvedere is their house vodka at $ 9 so not so bad. The spicy wedges are delicious with an amazing sweet chili sauce. Been before on a Friday and was a little too packed with the corporate crowd for me. A great place to take someone on a sexy night out during the week.

The Emerald Peacock is a luxe inner city bar that adds to Melbourne’s eponymous rooftop bar phenomenon. Make your way through the ornate carved entrance and work your way up the stairs to find the plush bar and more casual outdoor area. Wood-fired pizzas make for great date nibbles, while the cocktail list is both extensive and expensive. The Emerald Peacock does tend to have a bit of an after work drinks vibe about it, so you’ll often find yourself jostling for a spot at the bar alongside the rest of the office. This can be a little annoying on a Friday evening when everyone is getting a bit rowdy after a long day at work, but I guess that’s just the city for you. However, this place is not only the demain of suits looking to cut loose, you’ll also find plenty of cool young things looking to splash out for the night and impress someone special with a cocktail or two.

… I’m still not entirely convinced on the Emerald Peacock. I’d heard some wonderful things about this cocktail/lounge/after work drinks venue — that they had a fantastic rooftop, a great atmosphere and a really trendy crowd. Well… I suppose the rooftop bit was right. The crowd was very, very corporate-y, so keep this in mind if that is not really your cup-of-tea(it certainly isn’t mine) and the drinks are outrageously expensive and made rather unwillingly by frowning bartenders. The rooftop is certainly the best place to be in the whole venue, but clearly everyone else agrees so it is often difficult to find a seat or even a place to lean, so get in early! Look, pop by for a cocktail and see for yourself but just don’t blame me when you’re bored and poor at the end of the night.

After work drinks on a Friday are a sure fire way to kick start a great weekend! After work drinks at the Emerald Peacock? Even better! Let the giant peacock in the foyer be your guide! The entrance on Lonsdale street opposite the QV complex does not have a sign, so stroll past the security dudes and take in the giant peacock before heading up the wooden stairs. This stylish bar and lounge has a more casual setting rooftop bar with great views and at 6pm on a Friday night, no room to move, it is LOUD, but if you can get there early enough a great place to spend a balmy summer evening. The bar itself downstairs serves food and has waiter service so this is where my group settled for the night. The cocktail menu is extensive and inspires you to try as many as possible. The bird theme Emerald Peacock shares with its sister venue The Red Hummingbird is evident in the cocktail names. I started with a Red Hummingbird a cooling strawberry flavoured concoction. My favourite cocktail of the night was the Three Hot Birds, a lemon martini flavoured affair complete with orchard garnish. Every cocktail looked amazing and the wait for drinks despite the crowd was refreshingly fast! The cocktails start at $ 18 so if your planning to explore the menu arrive cashed up. To soak up some of the drinks we ordered wood fire pizzas for the group which were fresh, delicious and vanished within minutes! For a night out with good food, great cocktails and fantastic atmosphere then The Emerald Peacock is where its at!

Imagine for a moment the colour pink had a taste, and you could drink it. That is the only way I can descrivbe the delicious, velvety cocktail(one of several) I enjoyed at The Emerald Peacock. Called a Paris Coco, it was this lovely, pink coloured glass of deliciousness topped with a Maraschino cherry(my fave). The cocktail list was extensive and the Long Island Iced Tea was exceptional. Expect to pay upwards of $ 18 for a cocktail– not cheap, but worth it if you are cashed up or want to treat yourself. As for the venue itself, it was easy to find a spot to sit and the rooftop bar was awesome, with great views and a really fun atmosphere. The bar staff were efficient and although it got progressively more busy as the night went on, it was still a relatively short wait for a drink. The décor was really lush and pretty and the food I spotted looked delicious. One downside: the toilets were tiny and there was no mirror– annoying for the ladies.

From the same crew who run the Red Humming Bird, comes Emerald Peacock(I think there’s a pattern emerging here). Emerald peacock is ten times the size of it’s little red sister bar but still carries on the luxurious, dedicate feel throughout. The size of the rooftop bar is very impressive indeed, and the views aren’t too shabby at all. Their menu offers a range of tasty tapas options and creative pizzas. On Fridays and Saturdays expect to line up, unless you get there early and there aren’t any functions happening. Though it’s a very spacious bar, they take overcrowding seriously and therefore regulate how many people are allowed in, or so the bouncer told us. We were also told that you can’t order food on the rooftop bar on those days and need to go back downstairs if you’re feeling peckish. There have been instances where people are not allowed in because of their shoes. I only ever wear canvas, casual, skate shoes and have been allowed in each time. However, once a friend of mine was wearing, well, let’s call them fancy girlie sandals and she was told she’d have to change them, lucky she had a different pair in the car. Apparently the reason why those shoes aren’t allowed to be worn in the bar is because they wouldn’t protect you from broken glass. Again just telling you guys what I was told.
