The Escape Hunt Experience – Melbourne

While I’d not go so far as to call us connoisseur’s of the escape room trend, we have done a few and pride ourselves on beating times of others and smashing through the rooms in style and with great team work.
This time was the first escape room that we haven’t had a baby hindering us (being worn on hubby or myself) and lucky because we found out after that babies and children under 7 are not even allowed in the reception let alone the game (they have been allowed in other establishments)
We did the brewery murder room and we did smash through it — with one stumble on a puzzle when hubby decided to distract me and run away on a tangent.
We solved it and got out quick time though. The rooms are well planned out and the puzzles while challenging are not impossible (unlike others we have done)
The entrance/​waiting room is warm and inviting and the gentleman running the place was kind and friendly (and had a joke or two for us).
I loved having the photo taken at the end and having a little memory to take away.

One of my friends kindly invited me to Escape Hunt as she had some tickets to use. I thought it was going to be kinda dodgy because that’s the type of place I seem to end up with her but to my surprise and delight, it was great. We went as a group of four and had an albeit slightly stressful but super fun time!

Escape Hunt is right in the heart of the city and perfect place to get a few friends together or split into larger groups and challenge each other to see who has more brain juice.
Our group of 6 tried out the Graveyard themed room and boy it was thrilling.
I won’t give away details but I was nervous, and it was challenging… thank goodness for others in my group being able to solve interesting puzzles and navigating. There are other themed rooms and at the end you can play dress-​up in detective uniforms and there is a photo booth.
For those who are worried on getting stuck, don’t fret you can ask for hints and there are nice teas and cookies for you to calm down with before and after the game.
Will be back to try the other rooms!

This place is pretty dope.
I give it 5 stars. Not to boast that it’s the greatest thing since receiving a semi friend’s wifi password but it’s different. I actually contemplated 4 stars due to the sobriety involved but when I think of it I know I couldn’t participate three sheets…
I participated with a larger group than normal which put us in a head to head competition. 6 on 6. This works out because there are three escape scenarios: a graveyard, brewery, and tram room. There are two of each rooms identical. You can come on a date, with a few friends, or as a team building group. It was nice to actually witness a couple coming in to experience the hunt. Nothing like dinner and a movie and a nightcap but that’s slowly dying with the arrival of mating, I mean dating, applications.
So I’ve only experienced the graveyard mystery as I wanted and I admit it was about as complex as I thought it would be. I’m the type that can solve any game show answer or movie mystery and shout it at the TV but put me in the hot seat and it would seem as though I don’t want to be a millionaire.
I won’t give much more to the mystery because there’s nothing like the firsthand experience but for those who would doubt themselves just give it a try. I found a clue or two and left satisfied. Also my team won by a majority. My only suggestion would be go with no more than four people.
There is pre and post tea available as well as a props and a photo op.

Who would have thought getting locked in a room for a hour would be so much fun! This is actually the 6^th escape room experience I have had and wow I was impressed with Escape Hunt Melbourne. Don’t worry — I won’t spoil any of the mystery of the actual rooms in this review.
When we arrived the incredibly friendly staff sat us down on some comfy couches (complete with brain twisting puzzles to solve and a nice cup of tea) to explain the rules and how the games work. Essentially you and your team mates are sent into a «locked» (obviously you can still get out) room with a set of brain training challenges to solve. As a great problem solver and lateral thinker I was really excited to see how challenging this would be.
The room we were given was the «brewery mystery». As the story goes the grand brew master has been murdered and his great beer recipe has disappeared with his death… or has it? You and your team need to solve puzzles, find clues and work together to find a way of getting out again. Our team was amazing and worked together very well. While one person was helping to solve one puzzle everyone else looked around to help solve the next. We worked so well together we raced through the room and beat our competition who was playing in the room next to us.
Afterwards you get to dress up like a old fashioned Sherlock Holmes detective (complete with cape and pipe) and get a photo from their photo booth! While the rooms were not the most challenging puzzles I have ever done, the theme was cool and there was a lot of attention to detail to make the experience exciting. I will definitely be going back with some friends to try another room!

What an exciting and engaging day. If you’re the type of person who loves a good mystery, logic puzzles, cryptic crosswords or anything else that engages the mind OR you’re the type of person who wouldn’t care if Kim kardashian dies or doesn’t know what a Blayke lively is then this is for you. Enter a room and throw yourself into a fight against the clock to solve the puzzle. Take a few friends and abandon those who refuse to come permanently from your life.

An excellent addition to Melbourne’s escape room scene. CBD based, it’s easy to get to and they are very welcoming bunch. First off, complementary tea, cookies and puzzles to get you in the mood while you are waiting in their super comfortable lounge room. Then 3 excellent escapes that are all solvable without clues. Unlimited clues available but they incur a time penalty so using your clues becomes part of your strategy.
Good value for money and an excellent group or family adventure. I particularly recommend the Melbourne Tram escape for its local flavour
