Interesting little tapas bar. Found it very quiet but it was early on a Thursday. Reasonably small space, dim lighting, pallets used as dividers between areas, dark colours used everywhere. It worked pretty well and was a nice looking venue. Drinks list wasn’t too big, but had some really interesting sounding cocktails. Tapas menu looked good and the food we had was pretty tasty. This place strikes me as an office long lunch, or after work drink place. Somewhere you can have a conversation and don’t have to yell in the ear of the person next to you.

Little bit of Latin loveliness is happening here. The staff are attentive, helpful and generally friendly. The menu is small and tapas style. More suited to small group catch ups than big dinners. Our group ordered polenta chips, beef shin empanadas and corn chips with guacamole. Loved the basic and solid corn chips. No disgustingly salty Doritos here my friends! The guacamole was a bit spicey for my liking but I’m a shy little kitten when it comes to spicey foods. The drinks menu is pointed towards the casual corporate crowd. Good beer and cocktail menu. The wine menu was a real downer. Not great seeing wine listed between $ 10−12/glass but knowing you can get the same wine bottle for around $ 10 from one of the big booze chain stores. Price point is usual for the area but selection wise it’s a bit strange. Will return here with a group to try out trivia night and Rumor has it there is salsa classes…

Just off Little Bourke St on level 1 is a little Latin American bar called Vamos. Dimly lit with some cosy little fairy-light nooks, coming here early on a Thursday night for a knock-off drink provided a nice casual spot to catch up for a drink. Service is great, the staff were really lovely and helpful. Many of the staff here also teach Spanish at the local language school where I study, which certainly speaks to their passion for bringing their local flavour to Melbourne. The menu is Latin American inspired small plates, so we ordered a couple of bites from the bar snacks portion to share as a group — beef shin empanadas, guacamole and chips, and polenta chips. All were tasty, the guac and chips were spot on and I particularly like the polenta chips as they were quite thin and crunchy rather than the chunky-burn-your-mouth out trying to eat it type. I’d come back and give dinner a go. I wasn’t drinking so can’t comment much on the booze available, but I did see that they do have happy hour specials going and mulled wine for winter. Probably somewhere I’d come more for a beer or margarita than a wine. They have a lot of shows and events here, their web site features a lot of fun Latin-American inspired music acts from mariachi bands to flamenco and Brazilian performers if you’re looking for something more upbeat. If a boozy rowdy night is your style, I’d plan ahead for when something is happening or go on a Saturday night. If you’re after a more chilled out spot to catch up with some friends, early weeknights are a good time to go.

Positives: Staff are lovely. Seating is pleasant. Corn chips were the home made type. Negatives: I called in to try a glass of wine(having been given a free voucher) and they only had one white. It was way too sweet/floral for my taste(being I usually drink dry wine). Nevermind(it was free). Thought I’d try the guacamole. surely you can’t go wrong with that? Way, way too garlicky. I love garlic but it was seriously starting to give me heart burn. It was all I could taste. If you like sweeter white wines or drink beer/cocktails etc it would probably be a nice place to go. Can’t obviously comment on their other menu items(small menu but sounded nice). Pretty disappointed as I’m a local but again, some of their other items might be much nicer than what I tried.
