While staying down the coast for the weekend, my friend had a sudden craving for bagels. In googling«best bagels Gold Coast» these guys kept coming up in all my searches so figured we’d give them a red hot crack for breakfast. Super low key café on the main drag, you could totally drive past and miss it. But it’s definitely worth a visit for their tasty home brew cold pressed coffees and abundant options of brekky bagels or even burger bagels for lunch. Staff were friendly and service was quick, very reasonably priced.

I’ve been dying to try out this relatively new-ish coffee spot along the Gold Coast Highway since it opened a few years ago as it has a stellar reputation amongst the locals for having excellent service, food and(obviously) coffee! Unfortunately we came around closing time(3.00pm) so the kitchen was closed but were able to order some coffee. The barista was really friendly and knew his sh&^ when it came to selecting a coffee type! I opted for an iced latte with their house blend and almond milk and my friend tried a different bean they had available in the form of a double espresso. I must admit my coffee was very bitter which is why I’m only giving this café 3 stars by my companion really enjoyed his drink and we both loved the décor, ambience and overall vibe of the café. I will come back and try the food at some point and will hopefully be able to update the star rating to the 5 I believe this place deserves.

On discovering this coffee shop near to our holiday rental, I was hopeful that it might be a saviour for our band of merry coffee addicts. We rocked up one morning and received a warm welcome but I was sad to see our coffees being prepared in take away cups despite us sitting in. Call me a snob, but I like drinking from a real cup if I’m sitting inside your café. It seems that everything at Skull And Bones is served this way, with others eating from cardboard boxes at a table next to us. The coffee, from Toby’s Estate, was okay but sadly ruined by overheated milk that burnt my mouth on first sip. Disappointing. I like the concept of healthy juices, great coffee and some interesting menu items for breakfast and lunch but there’s a little work that needs to be done to make this a great café experience.
