Green Life Soil Co

Since returning to Australia I have been going out of my way toward solving one of the truly pressing problems of society: The fact that Perth supermarkets are devoid of any of the really exciting chilli peppers that were so ubiquitous in the USA.
As something of a newbie when it comes to any sort of gardening, my initial forays into seedling-​raising have been problematic to say the least. After discussing the problem with some hardened vets on a chilli-​pepper-​specific forum (yes, they exist), soil drainage was identified as a likely culprit for my stunted shoots and a possible solution was Green Life Soil Co’s potting mix.
I had a look on their website and discovered that they also offered a selection of seeds and seedlings, so I made the drive out to Midvale on a quest for a more hospitable growing medium for my young plants.
When I arrived at Green Life’s spacious premises, I was impressed to discover that you can purchase the various soil mixes not only by the bag, but in bulk (at a discount) from huge piles out the back. Not being in possession of a ute and, frankly, not requiring industrial levels of potting mix, I decided to settle for some bags which were priced well when compared with the high-​end stuff from Bunnings. I was impressed by the heft of the bags. Heavy, to me, means quality. Not full of air and woodchips. I also appreciated the way you could receive a significant discount for purchasing five or more bags.
The selection of seedlings here isn’t as huge as you’d find at a speciality garden centre, but everything looked healthy, and there are some rarer finds that don’t tend to show up at Bunnings or Waldecks. One such example was established Naga Bhut Jolokia (better known in the Western World as «ghost peppers») seedlings, one of the hottest chillies on the planet. The seed selection inside the office seemed more than adequate. A few interesting options like «chocolate capsicum» tempted me as I strolled in to pay. At only $ 4 per sachet this is an affordable option if you require seeds.
So, you might be asking why I am giving Green Life a five star review. Sounds fine so far, right? Well, for me, the crowning glory of this place is the service. The younger guy at the counter directed my question to the more experienced gentleman outside (I didn’t catch his name), who happily chatted away to me about my cropping woes for at least thirty minutes. I asked question after question from everything ranging from the root systems of my chillies, to the health issues of my mother’s Tahitian Lime tree. I went away armed with a tonne of advice and a determination to kickstart Green Life Soil Co’s Unilocal!presence with the best possible rating.
This is a company that really deserves your business.
