I’ve been at Ventuno several times and I still don’t know why people think that this place is so special. Ok water view is a plus, staff is friendly but food is avarage. 3 stars: no one more, no one less

Pre-theatre meal for five people at Ventuno. We made a reservation and advised the staff that we were going to the theatre that evening when we booked. We arrived and were swiftly taken to our seats. The waitress mentioned we were going to the theatre and would be fed and watered in time for the show! Our table was right next to the water. Perfect seats. The service was good. We ordered and the food came out promptly as promised. We shared a garlic pizza to start and I chose an entrée as my main — the octopus and shared the rocket, pear and parmesan salad. My food was good but my husband’s pasta was better. How come my husband always orders better then me?! Anyone else suffer from food envy after ordering? The Pino Grigio wine was belissimo and was the standout of everything I ordered. A nice meal but not a restaurant I’ll rush back to visit. Four stars from me as the staff truly did look after us.

Ventuno is incredible! We had antipasti and mains, but it left no room for dessert. Everything we ate was delicious.

Pizza reminded me of my time in Tuscany. Thin, crispy, and delicious dough. They sauce was tangy and ingredients were all very fresh. It was great. I wanted to go back every day!

This pizza was on point. Reminded me and the hubsters of our trip to Italy. Thanks for the great service and amazing pizza with a great view!

I wasn’t overly impressed!!! The Wine Menu read like a Book and the Food Menu was interesting! I understand there’s only so much you can do with Italian Cuisine however for the prices I would have expected more. NOT a place to go if you’re looking for a quiet place to eat, it’s more like Central Station in Peak Hour!

This a decent place that we caught maybe on a bad night. After several Aussies telling us we could bring wine to every restaurant we brought in a great Margaret River wine. The maitre d runs over to our table telling us we can’t bring in the wine. The way it was said was like someone talks to a kindergartner. The restaurant is completely hard surfaces everywhere so it is very loud. Do not bring anyone if you want a quiet conversation. The food was ok and the wine list had nothing even close to what we brought . Pizza was good and in a large group this would be a fun place.

One of Sydney’s. Best locations for lunch and dinner. The food and service equally matches the location. Exceptional food, cocktails and wine list. Value for money.

Ventuno is the perfect spot in Walsh Bay for delicious Italian food. I come here usually between shows when I’m working across the road at Sydney Theatre as it opens for food at around 5pm and I’ve never been disappointed by the quality of the food! I haven’t had much other than the pizza here because it’s just so good. They have an extensive pizza menu, my favourites being the Vegetarian, the spicy salami and of course the good old fashioned margarita with lashings and lashings of chilli oil! Delicious! The baked eggplant with tomatoes is also a good choice for an appetiser if you want something light and fresh. The service is pretty amazing and the bustling Italian owner is always making sure everything is good and perfect with your table.

Lovely staff. Scenic location. Pretty good Italian food. As expensive as you would expect. I came here with my family before going to the theatre– it was nice, but I would probably go somewhere else next time or order something totally different. The agreed best part of the meal was the starter. we started with the big anti pasti board which was more than enough for 4 people and really nice. It had prosciutto, olives, bread, ricotta, big hunks of Parmesan and mozzarella. The giant mozzarella specifically was amazing. I could eat that all day. For the mains I had spinach and ricotta ravioli. The actually ravioli was great, but it was smothered in Parmesan which was way too overpowering for me. Now, I’m normally a cheese lover and am known to enjoy my fair share of Parmesan topped delights, however this was so overbearing I found myself scraping off the cheese to enjoy the rest. My sister had a similar issue with the vegetable lasagne. She will normally choose something based on its high cheese levels but couldn’t finish her dish from the sheer mounds of cheese packed into each bite. Some of you may think this is the best thing ever– and if that’s you then power to you! Having said that the other 2 in my party ordered the same beef ragu thing(sorry I can’t remember the name) and both said it was brilliant. I would recommend this place if you are in the area and after a feed– but wouldn’t suggest crossing town or stepping over your nonna for it.

Dawes point was just voted Sydney’s best suburb for its close proximity to the city but without that hustle and bustle feel and with great waterviews. Ventuno is then lucky to be located within this prime real estate location. What makes Dawes Point so popular is always why I like Ventuno. The food is great but it’s really the atmosphere of this restaurant that makes me keep coming back. I love alfresco dining but so often you’re enjoying your food with a bit of car fumes alongside or a rush of people walking past checking out what you’re eating. At Ventuno you can enjoy your meal and company with minimal interruption by the surrounds overlooking apartments and boats you probably can’t afford but desperately wish you could.

We dined as a group of six, showing up early as we had finished work early for the day. They were very accommodating, ensured we had sufficient drinks, and made good suggestions on platers to start with. We ordered 3 pizzas and some other dishes for mains. Food was delivered fast, and presented nicely. Pizza was on the money, and we enjoyed zucchini flowers and tomato buffalo salad etc. We picked desserts and I had tiramisu, it was very smooth and perhaps a little sweet as I couldn’t finish it, nor could my colleague with the same. Highly recommended Italian with good service.

This was the perfect restaurant for our group. We were a group of 8 and wanted something with a lively atmosphere, great views and nice food. What we got was all of the above. The service was very good and the staff were all authentic Italian which was a bonus. We started out with some shared entrée platers and a couple bottles of wine. The setting was lovely with views of the harbor, perfect for dusk. We enjoyed an array of menu items, everything from the seafood linguini, veal ragu to some of their pizzas. Nothing was a disappointment and we all left stuffed and happy. I would recommend this place for couples and groups. This great location makes it a hidden gem and pretty easy to get a reservation.

Been here a couple of times but prior to Unilocal in Oz. Great service and good food — pizzas are fantastic and the anti-pasto plates are chock full of good soft Italian cheeses like burratta and mozzarella. We had Chianti on the night, a lovely red wine which didn’t leave too much of a headache the morning after which was good. Only thing to keep in mind is that because they are located in residential, once it hits 11pm they move all the outside tables inside to stop there being so much noise.

This is such a great place for sitting outside and enjoying simple, fresh and tasty Italian food. Super friendly service by the waiters. We had the anti pasti to start — the calamari and aracini balls were the highlight for me. I thought the eggplant with mince was so so but one of my colleagues was raving about how delicious it was. Didn’t try the beef ball but others were also saying it was great. For main I had the spaghetti pescatore which had this succulent tomato sauce. I kept trying to dig around trying to scoop it up with the seafood — warning this is a dangerous dish if you’re wearing a white shirt or top. Apparently their pizzas are awesome — am supposed to try the diavola next time or the ragu dish… oh the choices! This is definitely a place for summer as the views of the wharf and the boats are truly an awesome backdrop. p. s. if you’re having the spagetti pescatore dish make sure you use a serviette as a bib! I didn’t have any dessert but again the gelato, tiramisu etc would be excellent options. All the classic Italian desserts. This place can’t wrong.

This pizza restaurant is found on the far-ish side of Hickson Road, near the Sydney Theatre Company. Went here for the Pizza Festival. I made a booking online, but when I arrived a few minutes early, they had no record of my booking. :(However the girl at the front of the restaurant assured me that she’d make sure our party would be seated by our supposed booking time… and she made it happen. Yay! Pizza was really yummy. I got the diavola. It was supposed to be spicy, but didn’t find it that spicy… had to douse it with chilli oil(then again I do douse everything with chilli oil, so maybe it’s just me.) Great service, our waiter was really friendly. Lovely location, it was absolutely beautiful.

We went to Ventuno for the Sydney Pizza Festival. Being the swanky place that it was, I was afraid that we would be treated differently as we weren’t full priced paying customers. My fear did not materialise as our waiter was very friendly and helpful, and there was no special menu for us. We were able to choose pizzas from their regular menu, and I was bit surprised that the pizzas were moderately priced. I was expecting them to be dearer because of the upscale vibe of the restaurant. I ordered the Ventuno pizza and I love that the gorgonzola was not too overpowering but still had that bite. Incidentally, it was also my birthday on the day we went and my friend had brought me a box of small cakes and they offered to keep it in the fridge for us and served it to us when it was time for dessert. Great location by the water, fantastic service and good food. I wouldn’t mind coming back here for an off-the-beaten track pizza fix in the city.

food — the pizza is good and it is definitely italian style pizza. I had the prosciutto, gorgonzola and eggplant, nice combination and balance. The pear roquette and parmesan salad was so-so at best, unripe pears, mostly oily dressing. Food gets a 3 service — waiter was not very nice and took forever, more interested in chatting with a table of cougars than tending to his tables. Service gets a 1 atmosphere — this restaurant is right next to the water, on a calm stretch were there aren’t too many people so it is nice and peaceful. the tables are well laid out so you have privacy and the chairs are comfortable to you feel like lounging a bit. Atmosphere gets a 4 value — 26AUD for a pizza, 15AUD for roquette lettuce with some oil and vinegar … no no no. Value gets a 2

A mixed bag. My pizza was pretty good, though it had a little too much cheese so that it stayed a little soggy just in the centre. The rest of it was quite good, though. The arancini we had to start were OK, not especially flavourful, but was pleasantly large for a starter. My companion’s seafood pasta was bland and ho-hum. Some bits of shellfish were undercooked, some others were overcooked. Disappointing. A fun wine list, though. Very attentive service, and a good spot, bussing with pre-theatre folks. Both hit and miss.
