I was rather surprised when I was wandering around Milsons Point to discovered that there were a number of shops nestled under the expressway that went onto the harbour bridge. In fact as I was wandering around I was trying to work out which one I should enter and garb a cup of coffee — I picked Ricky’s. Well, coffee was good and the staff were really friendly, but what I loved was the fact that this shop was under the harbour bridge(sort of). In fact it added quite a lot of character to the place. I’m going to have to come back here sometime simply to check out some of the other shops.

Absolutely divine coffee — all press — it also has a great tasting decaf. The café is small but oh so friendly, the service is efficient and warm. They have an extensive menu, with a range of bakery treats in the cupboard too. The fresh juices and banana bread are my favourite.

Great coffee and service with a smile. The Bacon and Egg roll was particularly good. A lovely addition to Kirribilli area

This is our favourite local café by a country mile. My wife’s favorites are the ricotta pancakes. French toast is also great.

Not a coffee drinker so can’t comment. Am a fan of good quality sandwiches and this is something they seem to do well. A great variety of different types of bread and fillings. Happy staff and if you are a lone soldier then you eill fit in with a good book or news paper. I think they got a great deal on lettuce the day we v went.

My go-to place for freshly baked bread on a weekend morning — the olive bread and walnut bread are my favorite. The pastries are great as well but on the pricey side. I think it’s one of the better coffee places in the neighborhood. Have always had the most friendly service.

Interesting café, in a reasonably good location — formerly a butchers but redone in an understated but effective way. The staff seem friendly and the background music is interesting enough that it makes a good place to take a book or newspaper for a couple of hours. The coffee(Allpress, not my favorite) was a little disappointing — I suspect it may have been slightly over-extracted, which as one other commenter noted gives it a slightly too-watery taste. Despite this the rest of the coffee was well made(only a small amount of milk, well frothed and served in the correct glass). I’ll probably return, but I probably won’t rush to return… there are a few other cafes I want to try in the surrounding area first

The coffee’s fine for a takeaway on a market-day morning but the place is sterile and cramped and despite the rustic breads on display, my experience with the food was not good: a ‘muffin’ was actually dry, days-old Danish broken up and crammed back into form under a gelatinous glaze. They do breakfasts and dinners also and while I can’t comment specifically on that, with the number of local joints doing the same thing I find it hard to believe you won’t find better food in a better atmosphere.

Stepping out from Milsons Point station, this was the first café I came across. I was planning on moving on but saw that they serve AllPress coffee so decided to stay for just a bit. The jazz music in the background is a nice touch in the morning. Nice a chilled, I scan the room and realise this place used to be a butcher’s. It is almost artistic the way i melds into the café that is now there. When the coffee arrives I am somewhat excited, as there is very little milk in the dbl mac… however… unfortunately the coffee has been over expressed making it very watery and not all that an AllPress coffee can be. I might have to give these guys another try in the future as I think they could do better with the coffee. Maybe for a breaky some time… Café Summary — — — — — — — — Passion for Coffee — 7⁄10 Coffee beans — AllPress Crema(1=burnt, 10=velvet) — 7⁄10 Special coffees avail? — N/A

Ricky Ocambo use to own Carabella a Spanish restaurant that specialised in tapas, paella and other Spanish regional dishes. After a 3 year break he has returned with Ricky’s café under the bridge. Ricky’s claims to have sourced the best suppliers of organic food and the perfect sourdough which is a great combination of crusty and sour sourced by a French artisan. Another artisan creates the exquisite pastries seen in Ricky’s. The coffee is perfect for the purists and for the foam milky lovers like myself. Jams are interesting too with flavours like Strawberry and Pinot Noir and Rhubarb and Rasberry. The honey is from Piedmonte in Italy but I have yet to indulge in a jar. We have been at Milsons Point at 7am and still have not managed to get seating but its on the cards every weekend to beat that crowd and enjoy the food treasures we have only observed while waiting in line for our takeaway.
