Indian Ocean Brewhaus & Grill

Went for dinner Saturday night. The place was busy which is a good sign. The staff were pleasant and helpful with choices, and the generous serving of crispy roast potatoes with tarragon dressing watercress salad and tasty tender sirloin steak was delicious. Also the Oreo Cheesecake was heavenly. Definately returning.

This place is always busy! won a $ 10 voucher digging in the Mindarie Marina «Dig for Treasure»! So we spent it wisely on Churros, ice-​cream & chocolate dipping sauce! Very nice. But needs a dessert spoon not a soup spoon. 3 of us managed to share so that was nice.
Sunday session starts about 2:30. So get there early!

Nice place to come on a Sunday for lunch. If you come early you can beat the crowds and get a good table because it can get very busy and very loud. If you are looking for quiet don’t come on the weekend.
Been here a few times and have really enjoyed their tasting platters along with a bottle of wine. Great atmosphere and depending on where you sit, a nice view of the marina.

I have previously given this place a positive review and on many occasions it has been good. A work colleague mentioned they weren’t happy with the place recently and I thought this was unusual.
So a pleasant Sunday afternoon arrived and my better half and I made the spontaneous decision to go out for lunch — the seafood paella being a personal favourite of ours.
Worst seafood paella ever. My serve didn’t come out with lemon, most of the mussels were unopened and still had beards. The mussels that had opened had dehydrated strings of meat, not plump juicy mussel meat… Sadly they overcooked the squid which was chewy and horrible… And finally my other half threw in the towel when her fork revealed a squid beak moments after she had to delicately spit a mouthful of paella into a napkin that was contaminated with bits of mussel shell and beard.
The experience was the lowest of lows. I definitely won’t be returning !
Anyone know what has happened to this place? It appears I am not the only one to notice the decline… Even their beer tastes different!

Tuesday is $ 10 pizza night! And let me just say, these pizzas aren’t your average pizzas, the are cooked in the pizza oven to perfection. Set in a beautiful location, you can’t really go wrong.
Other than the cheap pizza nights they have an amazing menu. The food is cooked to perfection and at a reasonable price. I got carrot and coriander soup last week when I went and oh my it was delicious.
I have never had a bad meal and never had anything but tip top service!

I’m actually a fan of the food and beverages at this joint. The brew their own blend, which makes it even more impressive. Their signature range of ales make any bland Sunday afternoon become a magical afternoon of fun, frivolity and a bit of naughty flirtations. The food is actually really special as well. I had the mixed kebab platter which was $ 24, a reasonable price for all the meat I got. And they were flavoured wonderfully.
One downfall for me, it’s one of those places where you have to order at the counter. I honestly hate that shit. But the location is superb. Right on the water at Mindarie Marina and the relaxed atmosphere makes for a lovely dinner over a glass of wine or an afternoon of getting shitfaced on good beer. I know which I prefer…
