I have never been disappointed with a trip to this wonderful café. The food simply keeps getting better and I have honestly never been to a café with such friendly and helpful staff. My only criticism is that they don’t serve the incredible cinnamon French toast on weekdays!

At the end of last week I went to Delicatezza for breakfast with my 7 month old. I had heard rave reviews, so I wanted to try it out. It definitely WAS everything it was made out to be. It is on Blackwood Street in Mitchelton, just across from the bakery and up a door or two from Des Alpes Restaurant. Table service was great and staff were lovely to talk to. The only problem was choosing what to eat because the menu was so amazing. It came down to a choice between the caramelized waffles with banana or the coconut pancake special. In the end, I went with the favourited one — the waffles but was told the coconut pancakes are becoming so popular that they may be on the menu soon anyway. The coffee was perfect(not burnt!) and came with its own love heart on top. The waffles were scrumptious and very rich — I was so full by the last mouthful that I couldn’t begin to contemplate the takeaway coffee I had been thinking about. They had high chairs for kids too and reasonable breakfast pricing.

Ventured here with a local and clearly this is a well known little gem. The menu was pleasing and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the pulled pork quesadillas which were gluten free and they were beyond good. Fresh, crunchy quesadillas with a lovely pulled pork. Not a huge serving but definitely enough. I also has a pot of some sort of spiced cacoa drink — AMAZING! I wish i could start every day with a mug of that sunshine!

Absolutely delicious coffee and breakfast! The children’s selection consisted of egg or waffles, and my son got the egg, bacon and toast. I had the bacon, duck fat potato and baked beans. It was delicious, well portioned and well presented. We ordered four dishes in all and our order came out in timely manner. Service was friendly and cheerful. My family enjoyed our breakfast today and certainly plan on returning.

Awesome café, great food and friendly, polite professional staff. We forget about this place because it’s over the hill from us. But we’re determined to return fortnightly at least for their fantastic breakfasts. It’s often very busy, which is testament to their yummy food and great coffee. So be patient or time your visits to the quieter times. Wish there were more places like this in Brisbane. We’re just grateful this one is within 10mins of where we live.

Stopped in to this gem for a Saturday Brekky. My wife and I joined by our 1 year old boy were well accommodated. When we arrived, there was only one other diner, by the time we finished our meal, they were close to turning people away due to the influx of customers. The food was great. My wife had the corncakes, with avocado, while I opted for the special, a black pudding croquette with bacon, roma tomatoes, creamed corn and a poached egg. All in all, a great feed with friendly service at reasonable prices. We’ll be back!

This café definitely has a suburban feel to it — like one of those cafes your friend’s sister decided to start. It was a nice change as we normally frequent«hot right now» hipster cafes started by 3 male design students(if you know what I mean). The staff were lovely, very friendly and accommodating. Delicious food and even the Merlo coffee(ahem, coffee snob here) was very very good. I’ve let me guard down, and I’m glad. Thank you Delicatezza

I came in and ordered a take away platter(I think it was the ploughman’s) for lunch and was BLOWN away. Not only was was the platter ready in a flash but the products used were simply DIVINE, the cheese, bread, meats and condiments were the right mix of flavours and truly delicious. Considering that when I went in at lunch every table was full and the staff were run off their feet this is a known gem in Mitchelton and worth the wait and every penny. I have yet to try their coffee or other meals but considering how tasty a simple platter was I can’t wait to go back and try. Plan your visit as they do get very busy and are only open for brekky and lunch.

Definitely my favourite place to eat in Blackwood St. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The weekend breakfast and lunch menus are great — if they ever stop doing those corn fritters at breakfast then I think I’ll cry. They switch over to the lunch menu at around 12 on a Saturday, and from that I recommend the quinoa salad, the deli panini, or the lamb burger. The coffee is ok, but the chai tea is freshly brewed and amazing. As the name suggests they also have a deli section inside, where you can buy the tasty cheeses and meats that they use in their meals, as well as other gourmet treats.

Having seen many photos of this suburban café, we finally ventured north for breakfast. We arrived around 8:15am to find the café bustling with only a small garden table nestled against the deli cabinet. Lesson: reserve a table here. Our coffee orders were taken and by the time we ordered breakfast from their ample menu, there was a more suitable 2 person table available. He ordered the baked beans with eggs and I the poached eggs with hollandaise with smoked bacon. Both meals a hearty start to our day! My hollandaise was light and creamy — perfect with the smokey bacon and perfectly poached eggs. The coffee, Merlo, is saved(in my mind) by their use of Barambah milk. It masks any misgivings of the coffee blend being used. For around $ 21 each it was a great casual breakfast and obviously popular amongst locals. Looking forward to going back for lunch! Oh, and you can also get deli items like pâté, olives and cheeses.

One of the best brunch spots on the northside. Corn Fritters are excellent. Eggs Benedict is excellent. The basic bacon and eggs is excellent. Quinoa Salad(lunch menu) is sublime. All meals come with sides of relish and avocado oil on the plate. Really well thought out combinations. Medium expensive. Coffee 4.5÷5

Delicatezza is hands down my favourite breakfasting/lunching spot in Brisbane. The café is situated on the main strip of Blackwood St and enjoys the foot traffic once a month from the Mitchelton Markets. Note: they do not take bookings on these days. It’s always been busy every time I have gone and you may have to wait 20 mins or so to get a table, especially if there are more than 2 of you. Book where possible. This cute little café/deli brews some of the best coffee in brisbane, and the food is simply sublime. I’m usually a sucker for eggs benedict everywhere I go, but all their dishes are delicious. The avocado on ciabatta is superb and a lot of them come with a side of some of the best chutney/relish that I could probably eat by the jar. I’m assuming it’s home made. The staff are also very friendly and make you feel right at home. If I could afford to come here every weekend for breakfast, I most certainly would. I’m salivating just thinking about it!

Loved the variety of options on the breakfast menu, the friendly staff & the bohemian style setup. Great place for a leisurely breakfast with the weekend paper with good strong coffee, new takes on old breakfast favourites and the added bonus of being a food store. I think it will be very easy to make this place a regular haunt. Our table loved our corn fritters and rhubarb French toast.

If you love to entertain, Delicatezza is worth checking out. This beautiful little deli is a food lovers dream — cured meats, pates, sausages, ham, chutneys, cheese and olives(did I mention cheese) the perfect place to pick up all of those little treats that will make your next dinner party extra special. Delicatezza have a great breakfast menu featuring bacon and eggs(fresh char-grilled bacon, poached free range eggs, relish and fresh ciabatta bread) and the waffles to die for! Gorgeous salads, platters made to order, beautiful coffee(a little strong but still good) and impeccable service. I will be back, again and again and again…
