Coventry Square Markets

A hell of an improvement on how it used to be. Definitely worth a second chance if you haven’t been here in the last year.
The Coventry Markets have somehow had the life breathed into them that was always hoped for, and now has nearly no vacant shop spaces.
There are multiple supermarkets in here, offering good quality fresh fruit and vegetables at a below market price. There are also butchers, fish mongers as well as a few cafes scattered throughout for those who need a rest after the shops.
We tried the Turkish café, where they had coffee, food and pastries. The custard slice was mildly sweet, fresh and delicious. They only make Turkish style coffee here but for those who want a flattie, there’s another Café around the corner from the Turkish one.

They have an indoor playground for the kiddies under 6 toilets quite a few cafes homewares stores really good range of foods they even have a dumpling store which everyone knows a sucker for
There’s also this store called retro which has the players cards and Pokemon teddys backpacks but they also have tournament days when the kids battle off with cards which I thought was really cool
Defiantly check this place out it has everything!

Probably the best market in Perth for all those hard to find ingredients ie a shoulder of mutton, skirt steak or those pork pieces most folks don’t eat. Its not flash but its good, highly recomended

Scoops gelato in Coventry markets. Make the only licorice icecream since whistlers in the 70s. Taking some home to try. So excited. Thanks Leo! Their bacio icecream is delicious you want more.

I like it but a lot of the shops are closed down.
Great playground and some good places to eat and shop, especially the greengrocers.
Facilities are always clean and parking is ample.

Love going here to buy my fruit and veg, it’s always fresh, inexpensive and there is such an assortment. The staff are very friendly and helpful and open 7 days is a bonus.
Sometimes I’ll grab a treat from one of the bakeries and sit by the enormous fish tanks. It’s so relaxing and calming to sit there and watch the fish and stingrays. They are a big hit for all ages. Lots of seating in this area including comfy couches.
Another favourite is the bargain shops, I always pop in to have a look at their art and craft supplies, costumes, gifts and gadgets. I found lots of great props for my horror party last year.
The markets are such a cultural experience with such a diverse range of cafes and restaurants. There’s something for everyone. I have enjoyed lunch at Basil & Mint restaurant which is a mixture of Vietnamese, Thai & Chinese cuisine. And I’ve sampled the delicious cupcakes from Bella’s Cupcake World a few times.

For super cheap produce that is mostly Australian grown — these markets have what you’re looking for. There are also butchers and seafood spots galore and lots of international shops for those specialty goods, like kimchi, and dumplings and baklava.
For an awesome play area for the kids to enjoy some time between your haircut, shirt making and grocery shopping — this market has an amazing and free jungle gym, ball pit, play area that they’re looking for.
For a variety of dinner options with alfresco areas and at some fair price points, this street side of this market is on it. The Coventry Seafood Bar and Grill is delicious, has good service and the imported beer is some of the cheapest I’ve seen in Perth.
While the interior and some of the shops aren’t exactly the sleekest and trendiest goods, this market is great for an adventure for the family and has some really good coffee shops and hang out spots to enjoy. Right across from the big Morley mall it’s conveniently located too.

I don’t bother going here for anything else aside from groceries, as everything else is tacky and crap.
But, the food is great. You can get a range of meats from about 6 different butchers, 2 or 3 fish mongers, 3 bakeries, a spice shop, deli, organic shop, Turkish grocery store, cleanskin wines… We pretty much do our whole shop here.
It has customer friendly opening hours n is open 7 days.
This is a place you need to give a chance… Initially it may seem a bit tacky, and some parts are. But the quality of the food here is good, and there is great variety. Someone just needs to come in and give it a facelift.
Come on Saturday, its got a great vibe!

Oh, Coventry Square. You could be so much more.
I frequent Coventry’s (now officially «Coventry Village») a few times a week, and we have a love hate relationship.
You can’t really go wrong shopping for basic fruit, veggies and herbs here. Nor can you go wrong looking for great cuts of meat or Asian pantry and freezer staples. I think the playground is just wonderful. Some of the eateries are hidden gems and the bakeries are great. The cleanskin wine shop sells some really decent stuff that doesn’t give me a headache.
But I’ve seen too many great stores close — three green grocers turned into one (they’re now back up to two, for now). Fernside Deli closed, taking a wonderful selection of meats, cheeses and dips with it. The non-​food shops are generally awful and most of the restaurants are really average. I’m kind of worried about the fish in their new fish tanks.
To be fair, it might be really well suited to the environment. All the things I hate might attract a lot of business. But I hope not, because I don’t live that far away, and I don’t want anyone to judge me based on my proximity to Coventry’s.

I’m unsure about this place. There’s good and bad aspects to it.
The good: The variety of speciality food stores and the fresh market areas. Sugar is my weakness and walking through the old lolly shop — just makes me act like a little kid. «Look at this!» /​«I wanna get that!» /​«That’s so cool!». I would have to say that the best thing about the Coventry Markets is the food.
Oh…and if you have little kids, there’s a massive play area /​kiddie cage in the middle of the complex that you can put them in while you enjoy a coffee and cake without having to share it with them: p
The bad: The parking. Oh dear god, the parking. The weekend parking. It was like Ikea — but instead of furniture, they’re selling food and novelty items. My advice, park further away if you can and walk — Most people attempt to park right up next to the front doors of the place for some reason which only creates congestion (and frustration).
Overall, a pretty cool place to check out if you haven’t already but try to pick an off peak time. Definitely one to avoid on the weekends if you can help it.

Coventry square is not pretty! No doubt about it, it aint shabby chic either. Just tacky shabby.
BUT… i love this place. It is has sooo much character and an amazing range of products. In fact I would go to this place for all my grocery needs if there was a place for me to buy the basic cleaning products, washing powder etc.
Food and veggies are super cheap and there is a huge range of fresh seafood and meat. I think there are 2 – 3 butcher shops, 2 fish shops, 2 asian stores, 1 indian store and many variety stores.
Food wise there are bakeries, the amazing bella’s cupcakes, a polish café selling fresh pierogi, a middle eastern place and many more.
Sure it’s not the place to buy nice clothes or gifts, but some of the crazy stuff you find in there you want to buy just for the pure novelty of it all and with the thought: i can’t believe this is a real thing. e.g. Bottom padding — to stuff your jeans with for those lacking in the rear department/​compartment.
So check it out! It’s not for everyone but like Unilocal so aptly puts it — Yay! i’m a fan.

Not too pretty a place to visit — but I do get amazing fresh fruit and veggies at the grocer.
I always buy my produce here because I know it is cheap and good quality — much better than the cheap fruit in the galleria across the road.
Keep in mind after 5 weekdays it is a bit scary — I went after work and loved how it wasn’t busy as the weekends, but then I saw a bit of a scene with somebody running out of the centre stealing something with the store owner trying to stop them.
It freaked me out a bit, and they don’t seem to have security. I’ll be sticking to the busy weekends and not weekdays after 5. Was a little too shady for me!

While the atmosphere isn’t fantastic I love shopping down there! Fresh & cheap fruit n veg, great choice of bakeries, Fenside deli has a fantastic range and great service, café biscuit makes good coffee and has cheap specials most days and it’s great for the kids on weekends and school holidays with face painting, balloon twisters, bouncy castles and entertainment. Drop into the English lolly shop for samples and lollies that take you back to your childhood, $ 1.50 mini icecreams for little ones at Skoops, sushi from Sushimaster on the sushi train, some nice restaurants or hit Hansens Gourmet to take something home to reheat later. I’m down there twice a week and so much nicer than going to the Galleria!

Seriously? They actually think this is going to be a tourist destination? Well, that is just embarrassing. My local supermarket has more pizzazz!
The space is HUGE but it’s just filled with tacky, straight-​off-​the-​slow-​boat-​from-​China junk.
The food isn’t a whole lot better either. I mean the quality is ok but there’s no interesting variety or produce that I can’t get at my local organic store or speciality supermarket.
There is no character to this place whatsoever. What a waste of space and money.

I have been a few times to Morley Coventry Square Markets. I know there is alot of expectations though I am very happy with what Morley has received. Remember we are in Perth and most shop close at 5 and are not open Sunday. So I found it great to be able to enjoy a large range of stores offering very different products.
The pricing is good so I did actually buy a few things. My best purchase was from David’s Rugs & Memorabilia. They have lots of signed (auto penned) memorabilia. UFC, Music, Boxing, Sports, Musicians, Cars, Harley Davidson.
As they also do rugs, I got a front door mat and nice rug for the lounge. Better quality and a price that allows me to purchase.

Whilst the markets still have a few vacancies and we are not experiencing the finished concept– I cant help but still feel a little disappointed. This may be due to the fact that my expectations were too high. When the plans for the markets were first announced they boasted the fact that there was going to be a microbrewery and some pretty great eateries. The micro brewery concept was scrapped and the atmosphere hardly entices you to sit down for a meal. What was good was the cheap fruit and veg shops, there were also some brilliant food stores such as deli counters and bakeries. You can also find the usual overpriced stores selling the same old stuff you get in the shopping malls. I hope as the markets evolve they prove me wrong and we see some interesting concepts stalls without the Perth price tag. All in all pretty uninspiring visit, the three stars go to the great value food markets, it is definitely worth a visit for them.

Right now there is not much to see here but you can see from the initial designs that this place is going to be a great focal point of Morley. Right across from the Galleria, it is a stark example of the progress Perth is making in the right direction.
it’s a selection of small retailers with everything from Persian cuisine to little knick knacks. There are amazing couches in the front hanging underneath gorgeous lamps. Keep an eye on this joint.
