Wasn’t my favourite place unfortunately. Could be because I’m a bit of a Phở snob. But still, my meal was $ 25 and I wish I didn’t pay that. I’m not scared to part with my money when it comes to food, but it has to be really good. I will say one thing, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. That was a real bonus for sure. Maybe if you’re not a phở snob like me, you’ll like this place.

I was there during lunch hours and I can tell you that the phở soup with 12 hour cooked broth is something that it is hard to believe. The soup was blend with couple of spices that really didn’t stand out to give that Phở taste I was expecting(I seriously thought it was from an instant soup cube). I am from Sydney and this Phở will not fly even up against the cheapest joint of the Chinatown food court. The fresh prepared Summer Rolls with prawn were good. Not too dry, well moistured rice paper skin and fresh prawns. By looking at the people who ordered, they ordered something other than Phở so I will try the others next time.

Whatever side of town you live in, I’m sure, if you’re like me, that you have your«go-to» place to eat-in or for ordering take-away, whenever you have the case of the«can’t-be-stuffed-cooking-dinner-tonight». Vietnamese Mint is practically my second home. Service is friendly, and the menu is simple, affordable, and always delicious. Sides are $ 6, Mains(soups and rice dishes), come in Regular $ 10 or Large $ 12, and they also offer«ice cream» for $ 4. Have been here many times, and have always come away satisfied and feeling full. On the occasion that I am more inclined to «take-away», it’s best to ring ahead, and your order will be ready in no time to be picked up. My favourite dishes, are the regular Chicken Noodle Soup, the Lemongrass chicken salad, Vietnamese spring rolls, and the Lemongrass marinated porkchop with rice, spring rolls, salad, & fried egg(for only $ 12). The latter dish is a «special» so it may not become permanent on the menu. I think the word is slowly getting out, that this place is great value, and serves amazing food, because it does appear a lot busier(albeit slowly) that when I first came here when it opened. I feel lucky to have a place I can rely on to never disappoint. Vietnamese mint rocks!

I was very happy to see a little place open up a lot closer to home. Vietnamese Mint is in a very small shopping mall in Cannon Hill that has a Coles and a liquor store but can’t seem to retain any other tenants. Vietnamese Mint have filled one of these vacant shops with a simple fit out and menu and it’s become a regular haunt for us after we pick up our groceries on Saturday afternoons. The menu comprises a few entrées(cold rolls, spring rolls etc), some cold noodle salads, a couple of stir fries and of course, ph. You choose from the menu on the wall, order at the counter(small $ 10, large $ 12) and take a seat whilst they prepare your eat in or takeaway meal. We’ve enjoyed cold rolls($ 6) and small ph(can’t imagine how big a large must be), char kway teo and broken spring roll salad on various occasions and have never left hungry. The food is full of the flavour combinations we have come to know and love and it is certainly fresh and served with a smile. I’m happy to see that there’s a small but fairly constant stream of people dropping in for a meal or some takeaway. It seems that Vietnamese Mint are giving it a red hot go of bucking the trend and succeeding where countless others have failed. Here’s to the next Saturday shopping trip.

Yes, yes, yes, a thousands times yes. This place does everything right. Delicious, fresh and reasonably priced Vietnamese food. But without having to visit Inala or Darra. Located down the end of the arcade near coles, it is a clean and unpretentious looking shop. Simple menu covering the classics — phở, rice paper rolls etc. Recommend trying the vietnamese coffee. It is just like my grandma would have used to make if I was of Vietnamese heritage. Sweetened with condensed milk and served on ice. Yum!

The one thing I am loving about the inner east of Brisbane is the growing diversity of restauraunts and the Vietnamese Mint is yet another to add to the list of great local takeaway. This is not fine dining so don’t expect any glamour, however this place does honest, great value Vietnamese food. Tonight my wife and I ordered the chicken rice paper rolls, the Vietnamese spring rolls, the chicken noodle soup, and the spring rolls vermicelli salad. All dishes were tasty, and we have a enough left over for lunch for me for tomorrow :). What I really liked was being provided with bean shoots, fresh lime, and fresh basil in a separate bag with the soup as this added a real zing. Also they had home made chilli sauce that you could pack and take home. This is the type of place you definitely want to see stick around — the guys that work there are quick and really down to earth so please give this place a try.
