I stopped here on many occasions when in the area, great bakery with a good selection on offer, bit of a hit & miss with the staff & how they operate on customer focus, tables not cleared after patrons have finished is annoying especially when they walk past empty handed and kind of don’t notice ? That aside ok with me.

Mundaring Artisan Bakery Café has an exceptionally long name for a café. Especially when you compare it to our West Australian proliferation, the short and succinctly named ‘Dome’. However, they do pack a lot of stuff in to this little café so the lengthy name is probably quite fitting. The café is also a mini art gallery, currently displaying works from a local artist and an artist who hails from Rockingham. Bravo. The caf also boasts some of the best bread in the area and they offer a range of savoury and sweet dine-in and takeaway options. Oh, and there are some toys for the kids to play with, should they get bored with the parents’ coffee chat. A shaded area outside provides a nice, relaxed feel or you can sit inside in the air con. Although, when I was there the air con seemed to be on strike in my particular section. It was working like a charm at the counter where the purchases are made though. The food is reasonably priced but it’s nothing spectacular. I got a sample of cakes to take home and they were nice but, like I said, not great. I have a feeling they weren’t 100 percent fresh either. It is refreshing to go to a café and see something unusual though. I enjoyed looking at the ethereal delights and bright, beach-inspired works of the artists who display their creative talents here. I think the paintings ranged from about fifty to about five hundred dollars. All up, nothing is mainstream about this café. Well worth a visit.
