I kind of got the«light bulb in my head» feeling that someone once went on holiday to the North of England having just holidayed in Vietnam, and after an amazing beer-fuelled moment of «what the», they came back and said, «That’s good Viet Nosh!» The problem with being«fuelled up» is that you regret what you said and did the day before. I found Viet Nosh. I didn’t go looking for it. The buzz of the stylish Hampden Road was interesting being that it was mostly trafficking students emanating from UWA. Viet Nosh was definitely«happening» with one big corporate group on a giant lateral table and the rest of us(inferiors) scattered throughout the place on smaller tables for two. I can’t remember what I ordered, and nor do I really want to, but it took precisely 2 minutes to arrive. Clearly all meals are ladled from a giant cauldron of offal that was made a week before. Obviously the microwave was dysfunctional too, because my wife’s meal was guess what… cold! So we sent it back to Chef LG to be re-warmed…again :) The second meal took a little longer. About five minutes. And it was okay. Temparture-wise. If I had to give an executive summary on the meal, it was akin to a watery indulgences of nothingness. Insipid. Tasteless. Pointless. Like jumping in muddy puddles with bare feet. But to the restaurant’s benefit, filling! I felt totally welcomed by Viet Nosh on arrival, until they started turning the lights off in the restaurant 20 minutes later. When the kitchen lights were dimmed and the«Bargain» board removed from the pavement, I knew it was an omen from god to move on. After all, I could still make my own pot noodles at home and make them taste better and more welcoming.

Love this little cheap byo restaurant. Fresh rice paper rolls and phở soup. Nothing fancy but great food and a nice little eat out with a group of friends on a budget

I have always enjoyed Viet Nosh for a cheap Asian meal in the usually expensive suburb of Nedlands. I always order the chicken curry for the spiciness and the flavour, although the chicken doesn’t always look the best! But I mainly came here for the price of around $ 10 per meal for an average dinner, however I went here the other night and ordered my curry only to be charged $ 18!!! Thats night a whole $ 8 more than what I paid for it 4 months ago– now thats a bloody steep increase. The only difference I noticed about it was that there was a brand new menu, and by that I don’t mean new food but just the menu that you browse through was new. Was not happy at all with this new price and I don’t think i’ll be coming back with those new prices!

Really great phở available here. The broth has great flavours. Marked down from five stars because is like just a bit more quantity! Corkage rates at $ 1 per person is excellent.

I am so glad we are moving out of those really hot days, because Phở + 40 degree heat = sweaty mess! But I tell you, the Phở at Viet Nosh worth the sweat… it is the BOMB! I have the beef noodle phở(it has a name like ‘tai bo’ or something which reminds me of a funky video workout I used to do). I always get takeaway because I work nearby, but there are a few simple tables if you want to eat in. The phở I get is $ 10.90 take away and you get a bowl of noodles and beef, a cup of broth and a bag of fresh bean sprouts/chili/lemon wedge/etc. Then it is like a fun and slightly messy ‘build-your-own-soup’ back in the office. Its brilliant and keeps everything fresh and perfectly flavoured to my taste preference. Go and try it if you are in the area — its good food at a good price.
