Horrendous first visit! We had friends travelling down almost 2 hours to Sydney for a coffee visit with us. As our friends have a young son, we thought we’d treat him(and us 4 adults) to brunch at MooBerry. We hadn’t been before, but seen it looked like a great place to entertain children. The menu also refers to hosting children’s parties. I got nervous right from the start when ordering seemed difficult. I started out by saying to the young girl that I was ready to order for the 5 of us. She then went looking for pen and paper. I said, «Might be best if you just key it straight into your computer ordering system?» «Oh yes!» she said. Hmmm… I mentioned the young boy had requested the Iced Mocha and could they please go light on the caffeine. Her response, «Yes, I’ll go light on the chocolate». Then I mentioned our young boy had requested the bacon & egg roll, but could we please substitute the chutney for tomato sauce. «So you want chutney and tomato sauce then?» Hmmm… these are really minor requests. Eventually a man with more experience took over the order for me. He at that pointed noted they didn’t have«mocha» that day, so iced chocolate it would be. We finished up the order 3 x bacon & egg rolls, 2 french toast with yoghurt and mixed berries, 2 x lattes, 1 x iced coffee, 1 x Belgium hot chocolate &1 x iced chocolate. The bill was approx. $ 75. Seemed excessive, but we were treating friends so be it. About 30 minutes later we received the 2 x lattes. They were hardly warm. We took them back. Some 45 minutes in, with no drinks arriving, we received the 3 bacon & egg rolls. They looked good and according to the two adults tasted okay. Our young man however had BBQ sauce instead of tomato, but went on to eat. About an hour in the 2 lattes eventually came back warmer this time. Then 1 hour plus we received the iced chocolate — nothing to rave about, very basic watery chocolate. Then 1 hour 10 mins the Belgium hot chocolate arrived, again lucky to be warm. Back goes the hot chocolate. 1 hour 15 minutes later the Banana smoothie arrived — it apparently was good. 1 hour 40 minutes later, FINALLY, the two french toast orders arrived, however, with no yoghurt and the mixed berries turned out to be 3 chopped up strawberries. Really? After an almost 2 hour brunch ordeal where half of our orders were returned and feeling very duped by our so-called French toast, we approached the staff and highlighted our ordeal. They mentioned they were short staffed, but honestly they were not flowing with customers during this time, so we felt this was not an acceptable excuse. Another couple seated near us mentioned they’d waited 30+ minutes for their milkshakes. We thanked the staff for being polite and for redoing 3 of our drink orders, but for the very first time I actually asked for my money back on their so-called French toast. Had they been upfront with us at the time of ordering and said they didn’t have mixed berries and they’d be no yoghurt, then we probably would have happily changed our order. But you can’t go and charge full price for a meal that you know was only going to be half the order. And it took almost 2 hours to make! It was very disappointing. Hopefully they can sort out their staffing issues and are better prepared with their pantry stock and cooking methods, or they will find more customers requesting their money back and worst still, not returning. I will say that the staff were friendly and very apologetic.
