Accommodation Review: Pros: Nice Décor with new lounges and quality television. Friendly staff, they’re absolutely great actually. This is one of the nicer places to stay in Newcastle CBD. Double or triple glazed windows on Hunter Street side. Nice cream filled biscuits and a good menu in rooms. Check in included a drinks voucher.
Cons: Heating wasn’t working, spoons weren’t totally clean, ironing board kept collapsing.
Overall: Rooms run from about 130 to 160. I’d definitely stay here again.

The venue is a little tired, but not bad. The back area is well heated, something which I appreciated during lunch in today’s chilly Newcastle weather. I had the worst meal of the table, the $ 13.50 steak — don’t bother, as truly you get what you pay for. Instead others had a great variety of competent pub fare. Too late I saw the innovation on the menu — lamb lasagne…
Packed full of people, so well loved by its regulars.

Not a bad bar with a reasonable selection of beers and decent food. Pleasant outdoor area. Front bar can get a little noisy but has some art deco stylings and avoids being a typical Newcastle swill house.
