I came here intending to have a quick meal before a trip to the movies on public holiday weekend. I picked it largely because it was the quietest restaurant in Honeysuckle, on what appeared to be a busy night. In retrospect, that should have told me everything I needed to know. We were seated and and they took a drink order as we looked at the menus. It’s luck we weren’t thirsty as it took about ten minutes for someone to take our order, we ordered 2 salads, an entrée sized one and a main sized one and as they hadn’t brought our drinks, I reminded them. 40 minutes later, after repeatedly trying(and failing) to flag down staff, I went to the counter to ask where our meal was. The staff member there looked flustered, saying it would be along soon. I couldn’t understand the delay, as apart from one party of 8, there were maybe 2 – 3 other tables occupied and the meals were salads… you know, the type of meal that doesn’t require cooking. The meals eventually came, both the same size. so which was the entrée? I again couldn’t flag any staff down so I had to return to the counter to ask what they’d given us. They couldn’t tell me whether they’d given me two entrees or two mains. They told me they’d «only charge me for what I ordered», amusing as they could have given me two entrees. As I was now running late for the movie, I just wanted to leave. I finished my very average prawn salad, that somehow took 50 minutes to make it to my table. It took me another 10 minutes to get the bill, I didn’t even wait for someone to collect it. I went to the counter to tell the previously flustered manager that the service & food was a disgrace, her response was a sheepish apology«I don’t know what’s going on tonight. Not good to hear from the person in charge. Now, I know that people have bad days, sometimes things go wrong and I accept that you won’t have a great experience every time you go out, especially if you eat out as often as I do. But you expect that if a restaurant does screw up, they’ll try make up for it, they should be looking for repeat customers after all. Their performance did step up when they remembered to tell me they were adding a 10% public holiday charge, so you know, they have their priorities right. I ended up missing the movie, to end what was a pretty terrible night, thanks largely to the staff at Twist. Suffice to say, I will never even look at Twist again and I strongly advise all to avoid like the plague.
