I loved the chicken burger but the thing about this place is that it’s depressing! It’s always empty and it just looks very worn. They’ve been here for a while so they must be doing something right. But with Marys up the street it seems like this place will slowly phase out /

When I was a 5 year old kid, I’d wander up to the pub on Friday nights to pick up my Granddad. King street was safe then. He’d get me a burger and we’d walk home. Never had a burger since quite as good until this place. Well done.

On a Saturday night while it is rains«Cats and Dogs» this little place was a little bit comforting. No wait while you order, a few tables spare, seating for the lone diner(oh…doesn’t this sound depressing!) and the staff were helpful. I ordered the special… now it came out pretty fast and the chips were very hot. There were a number of burgers on special for $ 10 with chips. Obviously people were off to other places but that is ok. The bars are thriving just up the street and I can hear a band playing nearby. Come to Newtown by bus or train… parking is always difficult.

Jesus. Can’t you go lower than one star? ‘Famous Burgers’ — As listed on the outside banner… Hmmmm. I smell a tourist trap. Not since the Oportos ’ famous Bondi burger’ have I seen such false burger advertising. When has ‘Burgerlicious’ ever been ‘Famous’? Anywhere? Can someone please tell me? When I think of ‘famous’, images of ‘Madonna’, ‘Donald Trump’, ‘Marilyn Monroe’, the bloody ‘Great Wall of China’ spring to mind… not, not, not, the terrible lackluster and bland burgers at ‘Burgerlicious’… The good: Nada. Nothing. Nil. Zero. Zilch. The Bad: A heavily pregnant… I mean ‘ready to drop’ workmate walked the 2 kilometer trek from work to ‘Burgerlicious’ Newtown yesterday. We know its a tourist trap. She said, the lines were too long at ‘Guzmen e Gomez’. When I heard what happened later I dropped to my knees and screamed out ‘NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Just like an 80’s buddy cop after his partner had been killed one day before retirement. So the workmate goes into ‘Burgerlicious’ and orders a veggie burger. If that wasn’t ridiculous enough, she waits about 10 minutes, after which is presented with a burger. She walks the two kilometers back to work only to find that the good staff had given her a dreaded meat burger… dum dum dum! So, she gets a work mate to drive her back this time, speaks to some rude employee who hands her her original veggie burger that had been sitting there for at least 15 minutes. Then, they blame her for taking the wrong burger! Wow! I’m amazed the staff didn’t call the police and have her arrested for stealing a meat burger. One furious work colleague rang up and spoke to a female employee who scoffed at his request to speak to the manager. The manager then picked up the phone and proceeded to again blame her for her hamburgerler ways… UNACCEPTABLE! The ugly: I notice out of all the ‘Burgerlicious’ store’s on Unilocal,Newtown has the lowest rating. Now I know why. You want a good burger? Hit up Mary’s on Mary Street, Newtown. Now that’s ‘Burgerlicious’. Instead of contacting me and offering me or my work colleague to come back for one of their ‘best’, good olé ‘Burgerlicious’ has had this review taken down once citing that the review wasn’t from my own experience. This is my experience as I have had the burgers there, and they are nothing special. Your move ‘Burgerlicious’.

Although not the tastiest veggie burger I’ve had in Sydney it comes pretty close. I’ve been back several times now and the friendly and fast service is always consistent. I order the Big Veg meal deal(comes with chips or salad and a drink). It’s very messy to eat in burger bun form(because they pack so much in there!) so I changed to wrap(same price). Chips are delicious and you get tomato sauce automatically. You will be stuffed after eating here.

I had a real burger craving, one with real meat and beetroot, i stumbled upon Burgerlicious in King Street Newtown, the service was friendly and fast, I ordered the Newtown burger, well when in Rome… and my daughter ordered the classic hotdog, neither of us was disappointed, my burger was so juicy and delicious I didn’t even care that it was so big it was hard to eat, My daughter devoured her hotdog and loved every bite. both meals came with a side serve of home style chips that were delicious and so many that we could not finished them. I will definitely come back to try other dishes on their menu.

The staff were incompetent and a bit rude, they couldn’t give me what I asked for and what I ended up having(the nachos) wasn’t very good and took a while to make. There’s not much else to say.

When it comes to burgers, I am admittedly quite picky. I was very impressed with Moo Gourmet Burgers, which also has an outlet in Newtown, but there’s no harm in trying something new. I passed by Burgerlicious on King St, not knowing that it was a chain restaurant. Once I looked at the menu, I decided actually NOT to eat here. I know, you may be thinking ‘why is this guy writing a review on a restaurant in which he didn’t actually eat.’ Here’s why: I looked around at the burgers that other people were eating and the portion size was very small. Then when I actually looked at the menu, I noticed that you are charged for almost every add-on you might want on your burger. Yes, this includes sauces, cheeses, and other toppings. Nothing on the menu stood out to me as unique and delicious. I wasn’t in the mood of getting ripped off and being disappointed for a average burger I could make at home.

Burgerlicious are famous for their burgers and wraps. Or so their sign tells me although I must admit that a few people have told me it’s well worth a stop in for a burger(no one has ever mentioned the wraps though). So carrying a headache from the night before and in urgent need of a burger my companion and I headed off to Burgerlicious on King Street Newtown. I was quite excited as we made our way there and on arrival realised a) how small it was and b) how many people were occupying that small space. My stomach and head let out a groan but thankfully before that groan finished a table finished up and we skirted over to it. With plenty of burgers(and wraps) to choose from, I opted for the Newtown and my companion the Chilli and when it came out(along with a side of chips) you’ve rarely seen two happier people. It was. burgerlicious!

Unchain your heart, let yourself loose on one of the burgers in this traditional burger joint. If you want more burger for your bite, then you will want whats being served at Burgerlicious. I’ve never seen it packed out, but they do have a good variety of burger and offer a huge patty between the buns. It’s a no brainer, when you are too tired to think of what to eat, you just follow your gut to a burger joint, easy does it. Must be something in our DNA, but I know it sorts me out and prepares me for a nice night in front of the tele or for having a quiet couple of brewski’s with my boy. Theres something neutral about a burger joint, like it’s no mansland, just a cool place where you can eat till your hearts content

Gone are the days when you could get a decent hamburger at any fish and chips shop, these days I get a bit grossed out at a lot of hamburgers, usually as I bite into them and wonder what is in the meat, I am not such a fan of the large fast food chain burgers either. When I have a hamburger I want a big thick slab of quality beef mince and I want a pile of onion and BEETROOT. Today I was in Newtown and had a hamburger craving so I went to Burgerlicious and had the Newtown Burger. At $ 9.00 it is a bit expensive for a hamburger but honestly for what the burger is it is worth it. It comprises of Angus beed, grilled onion, bacon, free– range egg(I like happy chooks), tomato, lettuce and most importantly beetroot, the perfect ingredients for the perfect hamburger. Burgerlicious is delicious!
