Do you love Indian food but lament the greaseness you often find? Forget that at this place. They have a mix of dishes that will be farmiliar to anyone who has eatten Indian before but they are done in a much healthier Nepalese style with some of their own unique national foods. I love going here and am never disappointed!

came here for dinner with a small group, was great atmosphere. Very busy so we were waiting for our food for a solid hour, so were customers around us. But the wait was worth it, the food was probably the best curry i’ve ever eaten. I ordered the Malaysian prawn curry and was pleasantly suprised. Incredibly spicy but delicious !
The staff were a bit rude and delayed — only need for improvement

Wonderful lunch deal means I can order two smaller dishes instead of one big one! I smashed that in 20 minutes flat. The eggplant curry is solid and the masala dosal, pretty good. If I had seen their review of the Roti I would have added that to my meal as well, and rolled myself back down King street. Instead I left with almost-​heartburn. It’s okay thought– I thought it was well worth it. Why only 4 stars? Well, it’s solid, but I think with a little more refinement it could be a 5. Either way– happy stomache!

This place is an absolute gem!
I came here for lunch on a weekday while browsing the many fun shops in Newtown. To my surprise, there was a lunch special for $ 5.90 that includes a curry and a rice. They also offer cheap appetizers and naan bread.
I got the buttered chicken lunch special with a side of garlic naan. The portion is perfectly sized for being lunch and you cannot beat an $ 8 meal! The curry was also one of the best I’ve had. The service is also impeccable.
More of a hole in the wall kind of gem, but those are always the absolute best!

This unassuming restaurant has a mix of Sri-​Lankan /​Malay /​South Indian foods, and their dosai is pretty special. The curries have a surprising variety of flavours, and some are very hot, so be warned if that’s not your thing.
I came here for lunch the other day, and it was so cheap! $ 8 for a lamb thali — which is a huge meal (it’s basically a tasting plate — lots of little curries, chutney, & rice, and something sweet). I reckon Little Haveli have slightly better Thalis, but you certainly get value for money.

This is Sri Lankan cuisine at its best. This shop does all the favourite south Indian dishes that are known and loved. There is a variety of unleven bread called dosa which is eaten with curries and coconut chutneys. It is really popular for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Here you get to sample some of the flavours, with a combination of sweet, sour/​taut and hot. The prices are really reasonable and the owner offers a lot of himself into his restaurant and caters for all crowds. The use of fruits in curries, yoghurt and chutneys is really interesting and can offer for some dramatic cuisine. The dress is casual although the ambient setting can offer for a romantic night out, and it is also good for groups up to 10 people.

It’s a tongue twister but you won’t forget the name will you? Indeed, this eat– in and take-​away restaurant is very unique:
— It offers top quality and good value for money Malaysian, South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine so you get the essence of these different flavours all in the one place.
–South Indian cuisine is relatively scarce in Sydney so K (it’s easier this way) is a gem!
–Try a dosai, the South Indian crisp, savoury pancake. There are over 20 types of dosas to choose from with different fillings, and most are under $ 10. I chose the mushroom and cheese one and it was very tasty and something different.
–The curries are the undisputable champions of the Indian menu.
— I adore the Malaysian Milk Hoppers; bowl-​shaped thin pancakes made from fermented rice flour, with a sweet coconut centre.
–There is air conditioning inside the restaurant, which is great because it can get really hot with all those piquant flavours!
–The staff can be hasty and the service slow at times but I assure you-​the food is worth the wait!
