Kakulas Sister Nollamara

This is the closest we’ll get to a Moroccan spice market in Perth. Mind you it seems all the customers in the store are foreign and speaking languages I don’t understand, so it does feel like you’re on holiday in a strange land. Alas it is just round the corner from my house.
I like to head here to stock up on bulk items such as flours, grains and spices. I love their deli counter too, lots of cured meats just begging to be plated up for some Friday night nibbles.
Plus it would be rude not to buy some raspberry jam and European chocolates on the way out.
Only downside — they don’t give you bags which is pretty annoying, especially when you buy more than a couple of items accidentally.

Thank you to Laura D for letting me know this place was here. Now I don’t have to wait until the weekends to pop down to Freo, I can swing by here during my lunch break.
There is much more space to roam around and get stuck into their selection.
They have a very large variety of flours, spices, dried fruits and grains, possibly more than the Northbridge or Freo counterparts.
I probably spent way more than I had intended but that is just because I bought more than intended, nothing to do with their prices.
If you currently buy your seeds, grains and health foods in once of the large supermarkets, I must emphasize how much you would save by doing your shopping here instead.

Whenever you think of Kakulas Sister you need to think to yourself: «Spice Girls».
I’m serious.
I’m a fan of the Kakulas Brothers in Northbridge and it would seem that the family is branching out North of the River (woooo!!).
This is the place to go if you want those specialized spices or unique flavours from around the world. This place has it all.
The reason why I like this place is because of the variety of health /​whole foods they have. I’m literally nuts about nuts. They’ve got a massive variety of nuts and at really good prices AND you can get as much (or as little as you need).
I usually stock up on nuts to make my own trail mix so I’m not tempted by chocolate at work so this is a great place to get all of those raw ingredients.
They’ve also got a big variety of coffee beans and various meats cured in different ways for any authentic /​international dish you want to create.
