Vocational Language Learning Centre

This National Language training centre is simply magnifique, to borrow a word from the French language I’m studying — one of 11 the VLLC offers.
The centre, 2.5km from Adelaide CBD in a quiet residential area off Melbourne Street, uses fast-​track methods to help students achieve fluency in a second language.
The VLLC calls it «learning with your eyes closed» because they teach you in a similar way an adult might teach a child.
Courses generally comprise weekly one-​on-​one tutorials that can fit around students’ lifestyles — even if you’re overseas via Skype — and two online tutorials. Students are also given a homework book of tasks to complete each week. But it’s not a chore at all and once you grasp the basics it gets much easier.
The tutors are lovely and good at assessing the strengths and weaknesses of students as they study towards fluency.
Students can help themselves to complimentary food and drink in the kitchen before lessons start to add to the relaxed atmosphere. Computer access at the centre is also included in the course fee.
Courses may now also contribute to Year 12 High School Certificates in some states.
The VLLC is open Monday to Thursday from 10am-8.30pm and Saturday from 9.30am-12.30pm, although it is not open every Saturday.
