Propellor is definitely Perth’s finest brekky joint. I visit once a week for catch ups with family and friends and always recommending to people. The pizza for brekky is definitely by far my favourite item on the menu. It’s a Mediterranean delight and satisfies any hungry tummy! The staff are friendly and always happy to cater to your needs. Most recently I visited with my niece and they were most accommodating of her need for fish and chips. Worth more then a visit!

Staff awesome… vibe and feel of the Café… Awesome… Service was 5 star and the café very easy to deal with and very accommodating. We booked a table for a Club social function. We ordered our beverages… I got a «Lemon Soda» and the others got coffees allround. As it was Sunday there was only a Brunch menu… Only things available was large main meal sized breakfasts… or a small selection of cakes… Weekdays the do a lunch and dinner menu… but in weekends only the limited Brunch. we asked if other things available .and where told no… So this was number one small«hiccup in the experience» as some members wanted a sandwich or similar… Most people chose the Sour cream Cake… One person got a Portuguese Custard Tart and I opted for a Brioche Doughnut with Rhubarb and Mascarpone Cream. The Beverages arrived… My drink was just as promised mNumber two hiccup was ALL the«hot» beverages where NOT…, they where lukewarm… even the requested«extra hot» coffee was just a degree or two above lukewarm. Then the cakes arrived… The Lemon Cake looked delicious … A large slice of cake with a small«pot» of Sour cream separate on the side. The Portuguese Custard tart looked rich… but it was TINY(a mere mouthful) my Doughnut looked very nice… and the rhubarb and mascarpone was tasty… However the first bite of it showed it to be STALE… and on first bite the others reported that all the cakes where also STALE… we complained to the waitress… who said«ummm it is a dense cake» we assured her the cake was dried out not dense… and the coffees where lukewarm. again she just offered a weak. umm sorry and left. As we assumed that these two weak apologies was all that was going to be offered as remedies to our complaints we all took a few bites more… the soured cream in the small pot certainly moistened the dry cake… and I ate the filling of my doughnut… The waitress obviously spoke to her manager as she came over and asked«who was the person who wanted to swap their cake» we informed her that it was in fact ALL of us… As most of us had eaten close to half of our cakes we mostly decided to forgo the swap. One person did swap there cake for something else. not sure what it was… but it was nice and not stale… and the manger did put a plate with a piece of the Zucchini Slice with Chocolate and Almonds on it cut into small squares… We shared it out to go with our still lukewarm coffees that had not been replaced or even offered to be replaced… This Slice was very nice. fudge like and rich and we all agreed that it was very nice… wishing we had ordered it instead. As the treasurer took care of the bill I am unsure what they charged us for the cake and the coffees… or if they didn’t charge us… So my overall review would be… It looks very nice. and the awesome food we saw coming out of the kitchen looked very nice. and we could see that it was all freshly prepared as we where at the table right near it… there was even a «brunch pizza» with tomato and feta and other fresh stuff on it… but the cakes might be a lottery… and the coffees are either made lukewarm or ours where made and the waitress forgot or left them to sit before she brought them over.

This place may very well be the worst café in Perth. My brother and I made the trek to female on January 1 as this was one of the few places open. My brother ordered basic scrambled eggs with bacon. My brother is not remotely a foodie and even he refused to eat it. He was given one piece of toast with the sloppiest most feral eggs I’ve seen in a while. The bacon looked hideous and my brother is the kind of guy who thinks McDonald’s is quality bacon… so for him to even criticise the bacon speaks volumes. Apparently it was also heavily doused in grease which leaked and made the toast soggy. Next there was mine. Absolutely nothing appealed to me on the menu for breakfast but I opted for the chicken pide and a soy coffee. The coffee was burnt and disgusting. It had no flavour or love at all. The pide tasted like a greasy frozen meal. It actually reminded of a pide I’d had a on a drunken night out in melbourne in st kilda. This placed failed so miserably. Worst of all, for this atrocious mess we were charged over $ 60 !!!

Great ambience — the outdoor structure with the black steel poles holding the café together as the foundation and the half glass that surrounds the whole café makes it look very unique with an industrial rustic feel. The architecture and design of the café are the main factors that got me to exploring it one Saturday afternoon.

Had a really lovely dinner here the other night with my partner and 2yo. Staff were very good with my demanding little person, setting was perfect for a hot summers night and food was delicious.

I’ve had Propeller bookmarked for a long time so am glad I had the opportunity to finally try it. I love the big outdoor area, it lends itself so well to a nice meal in the summer sun. I love the outdoor bar in an old shipping crate, the style lends itself perfectly to Freo as a port town. We started with a cheeky watermelon mimosa which was fresh and too easy to drink. I also had the Dream juice which came in a small bottle so I’m not sure if these were fresh made juices but it was still pretty tasty. We ordered the eggplant pizza and asparagus pizza which were both delicious! I love a good wood oven fired pizza and these didn’t disappoint as they were chock full of fresh veggies and flavour. I’ll certainly be back for breakfast and dinner!

Propellor 5pm News Years Day. Time heals all wounds — even for dedicated foodies. All the faves were closed and the roads were were full of people like us looking for food and bevvies. So we ended up at Propellor. My last review, below, alluded to the split menu — breakfast and pizzas till the witching hour — 5pm. That is still the case so choose your time for the food you prefer. Anyhow. The inside dining room is the place to be in summer at Propellor, the open kitchen is quietly humming away and the service is good but slow. The menu, like the staff, have been upgraded and the place is immaculate throughout. And there are now Spanish, Italian and French tipples salted throughout the excellent beverage list. We ordered simply — Minted Asparagus with goats curd, dill and migas(wafers of lightly fried bread) $ 18 and the Chargrilled quail with grapes, courgette and quinoa $ 18. While we waited I tucked into, literally, a WA Tonica $ 14. Seriously good West Winds gin, soda and thin slices of baby tomato and bright yellow capsicum. Should have come with a fork! It was delicious. The asparagus arrived just as I finished my gin salad and man it was sublime. Perfectly chargrilled with wafers of radish and sprigs of dill and finished off with soft Spanish onion slices. The Über Blondes eyes rolled back at first bite and mine followed. A perfect dish beautifully presented. The quail appeared in another master class of taste and presentation. Perfectly cooked portions resting on super thin slices of courgette and dusted with tender, pale quinoa. Brilliant dish and perfect partner for the asparagus. We washed this fab fare down with a lovely Villa Dugo Pinot Grigio from Fruili in Italy $ 10. A lot has changed here and it extends through all facets of the place. Propellor is finally hitting its straps. We will be back.

We were talked into ordering a mind blowing degustation menu($ 60each) after it being pitched in as an opportunity to sample the best of the menu; which, I’ll say looked pretty good. However, the dishes consisted of only 3 large plates including– a salmon salad, a Mediterranean meatloaf dish(that looked like cow pat with a yoghurt and beetroot dip) and finally a capsicum served on heavily /overly — salted haloumi. Given we didn’t get though half of these dishes, we were surprised to be told desert was next, so I asked what other mains were coming, however they advised we had olives and flatbread which were provide which, were also classified as meals. Rrrriggghhhhtoooooooo For desert, again, no sampling in sight — we were served an awful trifle dish in a cup to share, again– we couldn’t even eat it, and I swiftly sent it back. So disappointing that we couldn’t have had the pork belly, steak or even the pizza… Seems although we were just fed the scraps. We advised the wait staff about this, and they apologised but only discounted the total by $ 15 ; still resulting in a $ 150 bill. Outrageous. The only good thing was the overpriced wine, and did I mention that the ambience was as average as the food? It was. So, sadly, I think it was the worst food I’ve ever had in Perth… Do not waste your time or your money.

Can’t believe what rubbishy pizzas they serve for the price, raw cauliflower with cheap prosciutto that’s sold as jamon and a lump of stewed lamb mince that just slides off in one piece when you try and pick a slice up, and soooo small it’s about half the size of the standard small pizza. Really for a place that gourmet traveller rated, they are worse that the standard freo junk restaurant, very disappointed indeed!

Propeller has been at the top of my list of places to try for quite some time. Everyone has been raving on about the pizzas! As this was my first visit, I left the ordering entirely up to my friends. The only thing I was eyeing on the menu was the chicken pide. I may have been grinning stupidly when they ordered it. The perfect combination of generous toppings, soft and fluffy base, freshness from the herbs, and crunchiness from the almonds made this my favourite dish. My next favourite was the buffalo mozzarella pizza. Sometimes, simplicity is the key to a good dish. I don’t like it when a pizza is over crowded with toppings and you can’t distinguish one flavour from another. My least favourite was the eggplant pizza. Even with the extra jamon added to it something was missing. I’m not a fan of cheese made from sheep’s milk so the kefalograviera was a no go for me. Sorry, I don’t remember how much it costed us to add the extra jamon. FINALTHOUGHTS I think what makes Propeller pizzas stand up above the crowd are their pizza bases. It is deceivingly light and fluffy and I could have eaten the whole base if I wanted to(but I didn’t). I don’t usually eat the crust because it fills me up too fast(I don’t want to miss out on dessert!!!).

Ok i am all for dressing things up but this place takes the cake! We decided to venture over the bridge and see how the other half live we didnt book just decided to use the apps and get somewhere central to main eating areas. Habitué menu was confusing… Mrs Browns had a very depressed looking bunch in there sorry so it was propeller«@@. NOWONCEAGAIN i am a fussy eater ok I looked at the menu after ordering a whisky peach sour(you guys sure know how to make cocktails) Now if you had if said the duck rolls were soft springs rolls in spicy tom sce and sour cream BOOYAH yes please… But interpret the menu as it is. I had decided before I ate i was swinging past nicks for hot chips… my hubby to be being european eats everything and still finds it hugely amusing to watch me squirm so another one to visit… Just for him

A pleasant Brunch. So me and a good friend caught up over the weekend and thought this would be a good place to try. Service is on point here as upon our arrival we were immediately greeted with a smile and told we could sit wherever took our fancy. We opted for a mix of all the seating on offer going outside but undercover near the heaters. For our beverage selections we opted for the Almond smoothie which consists of almond milk, banana, cacao, dates and chia and the glow juice(served at 65 degrees) which contains orange, lemon, cinnamon, goji berry and honey. My friends Almond smoothie must have been horrendous as he quickly ensured no one would be subject to its flavour by pretty much inhaling the beverage(this I assume is actually because it tasted great!) I opted to savour my bevarage personally and quiet enjoyed the flavours contained within. For our food selections we setttled on the Smoked ox heart, hot sauce, hash + pickled egg and the Baked eggs, kale, tomato, fennel, chorizo and chickpea. Nothing but positives on both dishes here. Even after we finished and got a little carried away catching up we weren’t rushed at all. That being the case we decided it was time for desert and selected the hedgehog slice and the lemon cake with whipped cream and coffees. All the food and drinks were out promptly and this rounded of a pleasant dining experience. Wait staff were pleasant, had a good knowledge of their menu and seemed genuinly happy to answer questions. Will I be back if I am in the area? Most definitely!

Meh. They tried to cram my husband and I between two large parties, one of which had a pram… Ew. No thank you. The food was… Okay. The of tongue need not be so. Thick? And it didn’t have any flavour. Sauce portions are too large and just wasteful. Dessert menu for over 60s. Some menu items are not entirely clear, a tad misleading. Service was. Meh. Came here for coffee once and it was pretty good. I think maybe have table service all the time, or order at the bar all the time — don’t separate it, it’s confusing. Also the manager was walking through the restaurant with an open gas bottle and just standing in the kitchen having a chat whilst the tiny restaurant filled with the putrid smell of gas. One table left because of it. Nobody said anything. My lungs are filled with gas.

The propeller, a new place down at North Fremantle. With a big alfresco area it’s perfect at this time of the year! Coffee was great, perfect temperature! Breakfast was average then as we were eating we realise that mainly people come here for their homemade fide/pizzas. So we will be back again to give this place a go!

Nice quality produce and some rather eclectic choices made for a pleasant eve. Whitebait was delicious and the fennel had crunch. You may need to order an extra dish as the servings are not overly generous.

I have to say I was a little disappointed by my experience. Are my expectations set a little high, I don’t really think so, but when dealing with food you must be on your game. The first«what» was the menu, made from stormed paper, but in no way resilient to food soaking into it, so not very appealing to read. Second the timber slat tables had food and oily residue all in the cracks, then thirdly, the waiter preparing food in the container had food stuck in his, on point beard, not cool when preparing patrons food, and to top it off he walked around tables with it stuck there, really! The food, when you sit together and order together, usually it is timed to bring the food out together, however my friend finished her stewed fruit with yoghurt, which was very nice, drank her water, went for a skydive and my jaffle finally turned up, hmmm. Lastly, I would suggest learning what cutlery to put with a dish so one may actually be able to eat without making a mess, maybe a fork and spoon with whole seeded stewed fruit and with chunky relish in a tiny bowl a knife only tends to spread it all over the table. Nice position, but I will try Habitué next time

Interesting addition to the North Freo scene. Across from the ever popular Mrs Brown’s and FlipSide, Propeller is starting out with some stiff competition and high expectations. The layout is promising. Beer garden style outside, with comfortable interior option, and bar set in a converted container. I could see myself settling in for pleasant boozy afternoon. And menu is interesting. Nice beers on tap, friendly staff. And then food arrived, and it started going wrong. The $ 36 dollar lamb shoulder was tasty enough but left me wanting more — like maybe some mash potatoes. Or a chip. Anything really. So I plunged ahead with the $ 17 cheese plate. Which turned out to be a single slice of Brie, with some honeycomb. Again, tasty enough. But probably would have been happier had it been $ 7, not $ 17. So in summary, nice venue. Good location, ambiance, staff. Massively overpriced food.

Checked out Propeller on the weekend and overall a pretty enjoyable experience. Service and location were great. Ample parking on the area and fit-out will work well all year round. A little underwhelmed by the menu but this might have been due to high expectations. We were there at lunch time and offered a brunch menu and pizza(pide etc) menu. For a pizza you’ll be looking at $ 20+ and granted they’re not run of the mill cheesy sponges. Crisp, rustic looking bases and quality toppings on offer. I went for the swiss mushroom pizza(sautéed mushrooms, blue cheese, fresh herbs and confit garlic). It was nice but not sure if it was worth the $ 24 price tag. Also had a glass of prosecco which was pleasant enough($ 11). Didn’t look too closely at the brunch menu as everything appeared to have an egg component which ain’t my bag. Yes I will go back. It’s a great place for groups with ample seating on the grassed area outside.
