Basics & Beyond Homestore has all the kitchen knickknacks ranging from pizza stones to a tea steeper. This place would perfect for finding a last minute birthday gift for a female with cheeky cards and bath paraphernalia. The store is brimming with goods all beckoning the consumer to pick-up and inspect. Pop in to peruse the shelves question-free, as the man behind the counter couldn’t be bothered, hence the star-knockoff.

As the name suggests, Basics & Beyond have everything you need from the most simple kitchen utensil to children’s toy and quirky jewellery. Forget plain old boring cards, here at the front of the store you are greeted with beautiful creative cards by La La Land as you make your way inside there are shelves filled with modern and quirky ornaments, beautiful homewares — especially their garden lanterns and clever little knick knacks that make things a lot more organised. A few of the things that I loved for the ladies was their chic and sophisticated tampon boxs — one in particular with black ostrich print, perfect to put in your had bag or when you go out. They also stock Borne Naked organisers ideal if you’re like me and always switch bags and then have to transfer everything and they also house gorgeous Urban Rituelle products and my favourite Elk accessories too. Another wonderful thing is that they have a whole section devoted cooking, really Basics & Beyond have everything you could possibly want or need under one roof.

North Perth is full of independent home and gift stores. Basics & Beyond has a focus on modern gifts, homewares and gadgets for the kitchen. There is also a corner full of childrens toys and gifts. I wandered in to look for something for a small gift for a friend, but ended up buying a few things for myself. The man who served me happily gift wrapped my present for me.

I like this little shop. Making Items a hundred metres to its left appear ancient in comparison, it stocks some neat little knick-knacks, colourful stationery, and practical homewares. I’ll come in looking for a one-off gift for a friend, but end up buying two or three things for myself. Kitchenware, living room and bedroom décor, toiletries, accessories, and cards, cards, lots of greeting cards, it’s a one-stop shop for gift-giving. They even offer free gift-wrapping which we love when pressed for time(they’ll wrap your first purchase while you’re busy sifting the shelves for other cool wares).
