The Brass Monkey

I’m divided in my opinion on the Brass Monkey.
I think they have an inclusive atmosphere as anyone can come to Brass Monkey and be comfortable.
Generally the crowd are fairly nice and I like the variety of spaces in this pub — the upstairs, the grapeskin etc.
On the negative side I must admit it is a bit rough and not as high end as other pubs and bars in Northbridge Perth area. The security guards are also kind of jerky and pretencious which I don’t really understand.

Although the bartender was lovely, very friendly and seemed to be attentive, our orders were wrong, I received 6 chips to be exact and my partner received a burger with nothing right about it. On the positive the same polite bartender felt rather bad and gave us two free drinks.
But I won’t be going back any time soon.

The balcony upstairs at The Brass Monkey is a great vantage point to watch the late night revellers of Northbridge, especially on a rainy night.
I’m not convinced by their choice of verging-​on-​club style music but out on the balcony it’s quiet enough to have a pint and a chat.
On the subject of pints, they have a small but solid selection of beers on tap. Their best beers are brewed at Sail and Anchor, most notably the Monkey Stout which is one of my favourite ever beers.
I have never eaten here but from what I have seen it looks like the usual over-​priced, average pub grub.

Old school pub. Managed to stay pretty relevant with all of the new openings in Northbridge. It still has great charm especially for those not as new to the scene. Tiny garden bar upstairs but plenty of space elsewhere.
Drinks service was a little slow in the upstairs bar but the bartender was by himself and kept calling for help because of the sudden afternoon influx.
Definitely better for an older crowd but it’s refreshingly unpretentious.

We went here for the foam party at night. We rocked up just looking for a few drinks to kick off the night and discovered a foam party upstairs.
This was my first foam party experience and was the best night out so far this year. The drinks are average to expensive but this is what you get when you hit the city for drinks.
My bad points were the lack of maintenance in the ladies being there was no toilet paper in any of the cubicles (not that it mattered that much as I was drenched from the foam)
Good vibe with the Crowd buzzing I will be back here again :)

Looking for an affordable pub lunch in Northbridge, The Brass monkey is a good option .It has most of the pub favourites with a few extras, it’s worth noting that you order at the bar and at any of the many scattered through the many rooms of this pub. Floors and bars were a bit sticky which annoyed me but some might overlook this. Food was tasty and decent portion sizes. Seating in the different areas was adequate but nothing special. Suitable for a pub meal if that’s what you’re after.

If I could give minus 5stars this place would be in the deficit.
Worst atmosphere, THE WORST most corrupt security staff I’ve ever encountered in my 37 years on the planet. I was informed I was «being rude» because I did not hear a call to vacate the level I was sitting at with my drink happily keeping to myself, by the security staff. When I tried to argue my point I was told to «be quiet» I did not know Australia now had a fascist regimen. Sorry!
Do not play the out dated big buck hunter game on the ground floor, it is broken and will just take your money. I complained to staff who gave me a free beer rather than just turning it off.
Hands down THE MOST ULTIMATE, WORST VENUE IN AUSTRALIA.

It was Saturday night and it was late when I turned up. There is a downstairs and an upstairs.
Both have music/​dance floor areas and also bar areas with seats which are a little quieter.
Both areas have pool tables, two downstairs and one upstairs
The up stairs has seats out on the balcony so you can watch the world go by down below on one of the comfy seats
The down stairs has sea rally, buck hunter and some kind of old school street fighter arcade games, I know right sega rally after a few beers is not just a rally anymore it’s game on.
There is an assortment of beers and ciders available

The beer and place is great, I was trying to escape the heat and drink a bit. The place is huge, even though only the 1^st floor was open at the time.
I had the $ 12 burger and it is, by far, the worst burger I’ve had in Australia. It felt as if it was from a frozen patty pack you buy at the store… yuck. The amount of bread with the burger was quite ridiculous.
Avoid that burger at all costs, everything else was alright.

The brass monkey is good for a drink with friends but there isn’t much seating and it doesn’t have the best atmosphere. Good for pre-​drinking but wouldn’t recommend this as a spot to party at.

I was walking around CBD alone in the rain, looking for a place to have dinner. The posters outside the bar was tempting enough, «All day special for only $ 12 and $ 3 for house wine.» I had fish and chips which weren’t the best but for $ 12, it was good enough. They have live band on Mondays and the live band was good. And oh, Monday is also a special day for students and backpackers. Cheaper drinks.
A good place to hang out with your friends.

It was open when we needed it to be on a holiday passing through so an extra star for that.
Food was ok. Nice beer selection.
Barkeep spilled some mixer on me when I was ordering leaving me covered in sugar syrup at lunch which was less desirable. Given that it was pretty empty I thought it was reasonable to notice such details.
Cool building but the execution could be better.

The Brass Monkey has good and bad points and it depends which day you go. There’s a decent courtyard for sunny Saturday and Sunday libations and hangover chips/​wedges. On a Friday nights its a good old reliable if you are caught between pub and club as there’s always a large crowd but not too large and you are guaranteed some decent tunes.
There can be the odd undesirable floating around that are best avoided but if you can’t then at least there are plenty of hiding places.
Good steaks too,

The guys and I from Central college come here for a break away from classes, usually once a day, so we may have to start considering shares in this place.
Though the range of beers is extensive (huge variety of Little Creatures brands), and while its a nice, clean pub, very close to college, I do think the cost of a pint is a bit high. And that’s a pint of beer, or cider at around $ 8.50 each — in broad daylight.
I think the Brass Monkey ought to introduce a happy hour or two during weekdays, since they know full well the area is packed with students who can’t always afford boutique beers and other ex-​y drinks.
Lunch, on the other hand, is very reasonable here. I ordered Crumbed Calamari with Salad and Aioli for $ 16.90 and I really liked it. The serving was huge so it might be a good idea for me to share next time.
Great daily specials, too, like a burger and glass of beer for around $ 15.
Bottom line in, if you’re here regularly, with some quick accounting and a sharp eye on the menu, you’ll enjoy some good grub and a decent drop or two in this iconic establishment.

Good with the bad.
You’ve got to accept that the brass monkey establishments of Aus are a little crass. It’s a pub of convenience on a busy corner that serves a purpose to keen the population of Perth hydrated. It strikes me as more of a back packers than a locals bar. Yeah the pool tables are a winner and the live music is enticing but the crowd is generally a mix of trades and transient travellers.
The food is standard– pub deals with every combination of stock that needs to be rotated on any given night with a drinks clincher and the memorabilia hidden away in a trophy cabinet comprises of fluro orange shirts, hats and thongs– sporting slogans similar to their post cards «I got arsed at the brass» etc.
The mist system out the back is a nice addition and the varying sections allow you to explore the establishment in its’ entirety to find your place– I saw evil, I heard evil and the profanities flew as I consumed evil but the brass monkey isn’t for everyone.

Look out for the monkey when you come here! He’s pretty famous from what I hear. He’s not real alas he’s a bronzed sculptor but he welcomes you and every new visitor that throngs The Brass as he gazes at the crowd along Williams St.
The Brass appeals to many depending on the flavour of the night or outing. For those who enjoy their platter of tapas and chilled Chardonay, check out their tapas and wine bar.
Those who favour a hot grill and meaty dishes should visit the Grill. Sports fan will appreciate the fully stocked sports bar and footy matches.
They say when you visit Perth, you don’t leave Perth without visiting The Brass. I enjoyed a good hearty meal over good company and as I made my way out, I told the monkey, «I’ll be back!».

The Brass Monkey isn’t the cleanest or classiest of bars but it is a good place to meet up with friends and basically get pissed before moving on else where for the night. Its always buzzing and boldly lit; you can not miss!
Gourmet burger and a pint $ 15.00 on Thursdays and a Sportsbar with a crazy loud atmosphere. Get loose at the Brass Monkey any night of the week and your guaranteed for a good time.

The Brass Monkey is a well-​known pub in Northbridge, partly due to its prominent location in the middle of Northbridge, and partly because of the funny name. Due to its location and size, it usually ends up being a youngster’s first taste of a pub, as it is accessible and clearly recognisable.
The Brass Monkey is a sprawling establishment. There is a large bar section at the front, and an alfresco dining area. Upstairs is the grill.
When I first experienced the Brass Monkey, I thought it was a great establishment. After sampling other pubs and returning to the Brass Monkey, I actually felt disappointed by the place. The food is average, although on the cheap side for Northbridge, and the beers are largely forgettable. The service is okay, if on the brusque side.
Seeing as there are several pubs in the Northbridge area alone, you can do better than the Brass Monkey.

The Brass Monkey is one of Northbridge’s most popular pubs, and even I (with my unwavering high standards of pubs and clubs) have to admit it’s pretty alright. There’s a welcoming atmosphere, friendly bar staff, and plenty of comfy outside seating.
The Brass Monkey is located smack bang in the middle of Northbridge’s buzzing nightlife and caters to a more mature crowd (and by that I mean you’re unlikely to find 18-​year-​olds around the place). It’s got a nice, casual vibe and is a nice spot for a night out: whether you’re out for a meal with friends or just heading out for a drink.

I met my friend here yesterday for after work drinks before going for dinner. I had a Bulmers Pear Cider which was delicious and on tap (I prefer pints to bottles). The place was vibrant with others winding down with drinks after work, and we played a nice relaxing game of pool before going upstairs and standing out on the balcony overlooking busy Northbridge in the setting sun. That much of my experience was a delight!
We had intended on having dinner here in The Brass Grill upstairs, but it took us a while to find a waitress to seat us, and when she did we realised we were in the middle of an empty dining room. Never a good sign! So we got up and decided to try the other restaurant downstairs, but after scanning the menu we both decided there was nothing too appealing there either and left to eat somewhere else in Northbridge.
