Loving Hut Northcote is an utopia for vegans, vegetarians and lovers of good food. The extensive menu offers a number of cuisines from Southern Fried Chicken, cream-filled eclairs or a classic satay. 100% of the menu is vegan, yet many won’t be able to tell as they chow down on the best prepared mock meat I’ve had in the city. Everything I’ve had here has been on point, with no disappointments. The only reason this place doesn’t get five stars is because of the atmosphere. It feels like a weird cafeteria rather than a restaurant. Also here’s a warning: this place is immeasurably better than the Loving Hut located in Richmond. The name is part of a chain, but each location has its own setup and own menu. Don’t get the locations confused, or you will be disappointed.

Give the vegetarian/vegan in your life a food-hug… take them to Loving Hut(be prepared, however, for the anxiety that comes from being able to choose from everything on the menu). As someone who grew up with lemon chicken and other chinese-take-away classics, there is a special place in my heart for gloopy, deep fried food, and as a vegetarian the niggling cravings usually remain unfulfilled(burgers are great but a bit of a different beast). So sometimes you just need to get some faux meat, and Loving Hut is just the place for it! It’s not refined food, nor is it something you’d want to eat all the time, but it perfectly addresses the niche in which it sits. Non-vego friends of mine really enjoy it too, and if you really don’t like faux meat there are some«normal» options too. Atmosphere is not really a thing, you’ll feel like you’re in a food court, what with the plastic tables and glowing signs on the wall, but the prices are good, the food made me so happy inside, and your wallet won’t hurt too much either. Note: My housemates inform me that the Richmond branch is significantly worse than this Northcote one… not all Huts are created equal, apparently.

100% guaranteed an awesome vegan meal with any option on the menu! Awesome prices and the sweetest, helpful staff! The caramel slice is insane for only $ 3.50 and if you’re sharing meals be sure to get the delish duck Katsu! Every soup is awesome and I’ll keep going back till I’ve tried them all! Same for the entrees. The hut of love

Thought i’d give this place a go. Had the tofu pad thai and spring rolls — they were both delicious! Was great serving size and very affordable pricing. Service was good too — lovely waiters and quick to come out. Definitely going back. Thanks for the delicious vegan goodness! :)
