Soundworks is a seven-room rehearsal studio located in the industrial suburb of Osborne Park. The rehearsal rooms are of various sizes — some rooms can easily fit a large band, while others are more suitable for three-piece outfits. Soundworks is a popular rehearsal studio, as you can book out a room in six-hour blocks, for $ 60 a room — which is a very good deal. The rooms at Soundworks are spartan, but usable. Each room has its own air-conditioning unit, although the units tend to strain in the summer months. There are power points located in numerous points of a room, and milk crates for elevating amplifiers. The main issue with Soundworks is a lack of sufficient soundproofing between the rooms. The problem could be from not using enough soundproofing material between rooms, and also from having the rooms in such close proximity to each other. As a result, noise-bleeding commonly occurs, which can be distracting when trying to rehearse. It also doesn’t help that most bands who rehearse at Soundworks are metal or hard rock, with an emphasis on volume. Soundworks is a decent choice for long rehearsals — and if you can ignore the sounds of other bands rehearsing.
