First thing on Monday mornings(we’re talking 5:45am) I like to smash things. Like boxing bags and someone wearing mitts. Not things that break. Although… I like a good work out to start my week and that’s exactly what I get at X-Training. It’s a small, privately owned and run gym, staffed by highly qualified and personable professionals. I have purchased the 10 class pass which, when you do the sums, has a one hour small class(the most I’ve seen is 12 people) for $ 13. I believe that to be great value, having been regularly attending group fitness classes for over 12 years. At that time of the day, I can park out the front, before the adjoining businesses are open. However, there are nominated car spaces out the back, for no charge. The gym is located near the intersection of Main Street and Scarborough Beach Rd. Look for the Peugeot dealership, it’s just down from there, opposite the petrol station. Their website explains the other services on offer, from Yoga & Meditation to other high-cardio work outs and, of course, personal training.

This is a review of the Jungle Body Konga class only, and not the gym or its general membership. I have been to two Jungle Body Konga classses, which are on at 6pm on a Tuesday at X-Training. I find they are a pretty insane work out, much more challenging than a lot of personal trainers I have had. I am attending the classes every week now. Konga Jungle Body is a mix of dancing, aerobics, and almost HIIT style training. Not for the fainthearted, but a seriously good all over body workout. I would say that there’s not really any attention given to correct form, so be really careful not to overdo it as you could quite easily hurt your back or neck from doing moves such as bouncing planks. The gym also offers other classes such as yoga on top of the circuit style main gym area.
