My boyfriend lives next door, so a few cheeky ciders later our bellies started to rumble. I ordered the calamari and the chicken pizza… I’m now regretting my choice! Should have opted for the burger. The calamari was front the frozen section at Coles and pizza was gross. Great spot for a pre game beer or 2 but wouldn’t recommend coming for food. The wait for the food also seemed long considering no one else was in the pub or had ordered food. Overall fine but will be going for a nice frosty beverage next time and not the food.

A solid pub that is great pre sports match venue. Non pretentious, decent prices and the food is generous. If your not on the way to the footy then there isn’t much reason to go out of your way to drop in. Unless you live next door… Had a few meals there, haven’t been that great, but the serving size was. $ 10 chicken wings are pretty epic :) a bowl as big as your head!

Dangerously convenient to both the Sydney Cricket Ground and the Sydney Football Stadium, the Olympic Hotel is a friendly and unpretentious joint where everyone can come along and have a pint. The bar takes advantage of its sports-related location, and goes wild — on every wall is a TV covering a different game, race or match. On week day afternoons, tradies flock to the hotel for a beer and maybe a quick flutter, whereas on game days the hotel is packed with(sometimes obnoxious) fans, having a pre-game beer and getting stuck into the bistro’s food. Fairly standard — pies, steaks, burgers, but done well and generously proportioned. The Olympic Hotel is a fun spot where everyone’s welcome, everyone’s friendly and there is absolutely no pretense — an increasing rarity in Sydney nightlife.

If you’re heading to the SCG or SFS for a game and walk by the Olympic Hotel it will more than likely be packed with fans. It’s a popular spot for those wanting a pre game drink to calm the nerves or a post match celebratory beverage. You can even go there to drown your sorrows if your team doesn’t manage a win. There’s a TAB area where you can maybe put a wager on(or against) you’re team or a bistro to fill your stomach with some pub grub so you don’t have to buy any food at the stadium. If you so desire there is accommodation to stay the night as well. If there is no game there the pub is basically all yours! It’s still got all the facilities and has some great weekday food specials. Game day or not, head to the Olympic Hotel and grab a drink.
