You walk inside and I swear I was in Great Britain! Very stark beer. The décor is very wecolmi get and nostalgic! Slow service, but I’m finding that must be the Australia way!

I really enjoyed my meal here the price was really good. I had Atlantic salmon and I would defiantly order it again. It was a Saturday night and a band was setting up so would of been a good night I reckon but left after my meal. A good mixture of ages there also not just young ones.

Normally I don’t go around promoting British and Irish pubs because in my mind they tend to be pretentious and overpriced. However The Slug and Lettace seems to break the mould quite a lot. They have decent drink specials(though they are nothing all that flash — okay, Coopers Pale Ale, but at least its a decent drop). The cool thing about this pub is all of the things that hang on the wall and the roof. Okay, the British pubs that I’ve been to don’t have all of these things hanging about the place(though some of them I didn’t pay all that much attention to) but at least the place has atmosphere. In fact this is probably one of the better pubs in the Salisbury area, which not just offers a great atmosphere, but cheap food as well.

It’s a pub, it looks like a «British» one, but there was no slug?!? Some would say false advertising, I’d say that this is a nice place for a beer. The food is pub grub, and depending on the chef of the day, it’s average to ok.

I’ve never been to Britain, but I grew up with a very British upbringing. I used to watch the Goodies, I owned an Amstrad computer and I read British comics. My Mum was born there so the influence was strong. While I’ve never been to Britain, it is on my list of places to visit. However if you need a quick fix of what you would expect to experience in the UK then just walk into the Slug n Lettuce. There’s British memorabilia throughout the hotel. All the things you would expect to see, though when you think about it it’s probably a very stereotypical view of what we would expect to see. Maybe… like I said I’ve never been there… The menu is more varied than I would have expected. There isn’t actually much in the way of British food, and for the most part is made up on Italian restaurant staples such as pizza, pasta and garlic bread. I was a little disappointed in this, but they do serve dishes like«toad in the hole» which I had to try. I grew up with my Grandmother’s toad in the hole so I was already going in expecting to be biased. In the end it was much lighter than my Grandmother used to make, but I couldn’t honestly say one was better than the other. They were both just very different. The food is nice, but it doesn’t really match the atmosphere of the hotel. I really like both in their own way though, so I can’t complain.
