Who can go past the platter. Pork knuckle and all the trimmings is awesome. We tend to eat ourside where you order inside and have it brought out. Need to book in advance for inside tables. Join the Klub for extended happy hour and free pretzel, which are awesome!

This was a great little spot for a beer and chips on a spring Sunday arvo. It’s housed in an old church and its grounds, kind of reminds me a bit of primary school out the back and round the side, and it gets sun at the front. The usual excellent selection of beverages, although I still find it difficult to justify paying upwards of $ 20 for a litre of beer in one go. I didn’t have a meal but the ones that flew by looked good. It’s actually a good spot for Parra, imma little late to the party given how long it’s been around though. Parking is everywhere and on Sunday the car park in the lane nearby is free. Limited to 2P and 4P at other times. If you’re looking for a beer garden in the area, good place to start. And better than the grotty pubs at the other end of George street too.

Been here several times when in Parramatta. Great food, big drinks, good service and always a great atmosphere. Great choice of food… unless your a salady person.

Now I give this place 2 stars because I actually had a couple of positive experiences in the past. However this time was one of the worst dinning experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Father’s Day, granted is a very busy night with a lot going on but the amount of stuff ups and pretty yuk food was not good. Booked a table for 8 sat down and the father of the table received a small stein which was very cool but the coolness stopped there. We ordered a few drinks as you do and then ordered mains and a few sides. Nothing out of the ordinary. The drinks came we drank. Some more drinks came. Which weren’t ours so we politely told them that we didn’t order them. Then our mains and sides came and we ate. Then more mains came that weren’t ours. Again politely said that we didn’t order them and all seemed well. We dug into the food I got the mixed Bavarian platter which came with German sausages pork belly and a few other cool things. Man o man. worst pork belly ever! Was really stringy and ruff and the fat not rendered it was so gross and. That’s enough of that but trust me it was gross. The food around the table was the pork knuckles mostly with pretty much all of them being undercooked and half raw on the inside but crispy and awesome on the out. We don’t send food back because we don’t like the idea of it… if you catch my drift. Now food finished full but feeling a bit sick over some questionable pork belly and sauerkraut the bill came. Remember those drinks and mains that weren’t ours? There they were on the bill waiting to be paid! They over changed us $ 70+ for 2 mains and a few drinks. We Almost missed it after we all put it we were $ 70 short then we summed it up and there it was. The service was ok friendly enough but man ridiculous stuff ups. I won’t be going back to parramatta Bavarian bier café. Left a bad fatty pork belly taste in my mouth.

It’s a Bavarian Beer Café but with the added twist of being in a Church. I’ve been here about 10 times. No complaints about the food, but let’s face it, it’s all about the beer!

I like to take people here if they are staying in Parramatta for work as it’s a happening venue(inside an old church at that), and it’s a good chance for people to let their hair down after long days at work with plenty of beer choices and a pretty decent wine and cocktails list. The food is hearty from warm pretzels, to German Schnitzels to crispy pork knuckle with a ring of excellent crackling. Most dishes come with Sauerkraut, a staple Bavarian side. If you’re not familiar with this cuisine, I would suggest getting a tasting plate which gives you a little bit of everything to try. Over the years, they have added a section for Southern style BBQ, ie sticky ribs, pull porked and southern fried chicken. I’m not sure the reasoning behind this but it’s wierd going to a Bavarian Beer Café and ordering such dishes.

I come here every now and then on a Friday arvo with mates from work. It’s a good spot to have a beer and hang out. However, given there are numerous pubs and licensed restaurants around it, it is a little expensive for what it offers, and that’s the main reason we don’t come here more often. The staff are friendly and there are plenty of booths and benches inside. Outside there is a large beer garden that wraps around from the front to the back of the building. The food on offer is obviously German cuisine, hence you can get great pork knuckles, schnitzles and sausages with sides of sauerkraut and potatoes. Again, the price is a little steep to make it a regular but good for the odd occasion. It is a chain restaurant which you’ll find in various locations around the city, so if you’re not near Parramatta, Google one of its other locations.

When my housemate suggested German food for a change(normally we do Italian style dinners at home), I agreed. There is an onsite parking but unfortunately it was packed by the time we got there(around 8pm) so had to park somewhere else. Schnitzel sounded good as I have been craving for some chicken with crispy tops for a few days now and decided to order Swiss Schnitzel while my housemate ordered Pork Knuckles. Saw the haus-made pretzel with butter on the menu and decided to give it a try. Since I was driving, I decided to order lemon lime bitters(definitely gonna miss this special Aussie drink when I go back to Singapore). Pretzel came pretty fast. It was tasty but the cook sprinkled too much salt which made it lose the taste. The butter was unique and light. Good combination with the pretzel. The Swiss Schnitzel was average I think. But the fact that they added ham and swiss cheese made the dish unique in the eyes. Portion was more than what I expected. Overall, nice place to relax on a weekday/end nights. Pricing was a little too steep. Servers were very hospitable and friendly. Customer service was pretty good too. There are large group seatings available on site too(great for parties).

Okay I’ve been here so many times I may as well review now. This eating house is probably the most group-esque style setting you’ll come across for a decent sit down for German/Austrian chow. And yet every time I visit here its usually with a plus one and we want booth time. Although I’ve taken all sorts of gatherings here, you can’t go wrong with nominating this restaurant for first choice with larger parties. This location was constructed inside what used to be a church, so it has very high ceilings and hall like feel. They have upstairs, downstairs and outside dining. There’s a second undercover dining area next door also. For quite some time, they had the same menu, just prettied up. But they’ve officially updated it now hence the review. The new menu has contains the classic Bavarian crowd pleasers(pork knuckle, bratwurst, schnitzel etc) but now also a focus on more familiar dishes with a German twist. On this occasion we ordered the pretzels, now you cannot go here and not order pretzels. Germans don’t do pretzels like how Aussies think they are. This is the proper pretzel, so try it. We then tried the wagyu beef«maultaschen», apparently German style dumplings. They kinda looked like the usual dumplings from another part of the world though. And tasted like it. For mains we had bbq spare pork ribs and chicken schnitzel club sandwich with sauerkraut and mashed potato sides. Truth be told, I’ve tried all the classic German dishes before here and they’re all great. Definitely worth trying if you’re at all curious, go for it! That aside, our dinner on this night was positively average. The best part here is the alcohol. They have an exotic range of German beers and schnapps, explore and adore it peoples. They do have wine and dessert menu also, if you can make it to dessert. Seriously German food fills you up, you won’t even think about it. But from what I’ve sampled in the past, the sweets are nice. I do recommend this place or franchise, its fine dinner for groups and couples, always has a party atmosphere. For the busier nights, you must book ahead because they get packed out alot(especially indoors). On some nights they have local Germanic entertainment as well. Order the metre long of schnapps and expect to be greeted by a Frau with a cowbell.

This place is very overpriced. Not much variety on the menu. The pretzels are very nice and the live music is entertaining.

This place is so very overpriced. I had the Schnitzel, which was served with near stale chips, and it was tiny. Not what I would expect at all. It tasted like it was frozen and had just been reheated. The beer on offer is pretty good though. Lot’s to choose from in you’re a connoisseur and the bar staff will always help you with a choice if you’re not. Go for the drinks, not for the food. Then again, if you have enough to drink the food might be bearable.
