Got an upgrade courtesy of my membership but room was still pretty«cosy». Came at a bad time with renovations on so tough to judge overall. Good location, modern décor with a BIG tv. Only ate breakfast there which was pretty standard. Meh.

It’s hard to be overly excited about my experience at the Parkroyal. It ticked all the boxes in terms of a standard hotel experience. Friendly service — tick! Comfortable rooms — tick! Located near decent food options — tick! But you know what it got a big fat thumbs down for? The not mentioning of major renovations upon booking! It looks like the renovations, due to finish in 2016, are going to make the Parkroyal a really great hotel, but for now guests are surrounded by a construction zone, with workers and machines out front and around the sides of the hotel all day from around 7am. Apparently the work doesn’t commence until 8am but on both mornings I was woken up by the sounds of work trucks coming on site a lot earlier than this! Unpleasant. If you’re a deep sleeper and don’t mind having to drive in and out of a construction zone when parking your car then you’ll be happy here. If not, I advise you to avoid the Parkroyal until mid 2016 when the renos are due to be complete.

The Parkroyal is in the best location in Parramatta, just around the corner from countless awesome restaurants and bars. The beds are exceptionally comfortable. The bar and restaurant are also great, one of the best buffet breakfasts anywhere.
