Inexpensive meal I had here with a friend was lovely. Beer selection was nice and broad and the food was great for such an inexpensive price. Would recommend this pub during the Panthers NRL season and would come here again if around the area to catch a match.

The Fat Cow Bistro is one of the best pubs I’ve eaten at. The food is consistently good, and I’ve eaten here a lot. The prices are great, and even better if you get the daily specials. My favourite — the Pasta Prima Vera. Lots of flavour, lots of veggies and well cooked pasta. Lots of standard pub fare, too. Their schnitzels are big, tasty and relatively cheap. I don’t really have anything bad to say about the establishment. The staff are friendly and it’s kept clean. The only cons: Some of the patrons are gross, aaaaaaand Penrith.

Red Cow is an awesome pub that is situated in front of Penrith Station. All you have to do is walk across the road and you’re there! I used to work in Penrith and my workmates would tell me to try this place out for lunch. I’m mainly writing this review for its LUNCHSPECIAL. I know most pubs have lunch specials at low prices but I quite love this one. They have a wide range of variety from a rump steak(with chips & salad), chicken schnitzel, roast of the day(beef, pork, lamb), barramundi fish & chips and a few sandwiches that are of decent serving. The steak and the schnitzel is pretty good and they serve it with a good amount of chips and salad. Definitely a better alternative than buying Maccas inside the shops. A few years ago the lunch special was $ 6.00. Today it’s $ 7.50. I find it still cheap and definitely satisfying. I don’t work at Penrith anymore but I still drive there just for the food! You have to pay for separate drinks though(but a nice cold water that’s free is fine by me!). They have a full bar! Ranges from your normal beer, to amazing cocktails like a tequila sunrise and of course your hard shots. The place is of decent size too. It has two levels. You order your food upstairs. At night time they have different specials on and they also have a karaōke night for those who enjoy singing. It’s a feel good atmosphere and definitely a place to chill with mates.

The food is very cheap, and surprisingly large/tasty, as long as you’re not vegan/vegetarian/lactose intolerant. If you’re any of those three, you’re in trouble. The staff always seem so unhappy, though somehow I seem to get a smile out of them. Most of my friends don’t and always complain about it. They can’t take bookings. We have regularly booked the back room only to find another name in there(without any notice to us of the booking being changed) and 1⁄3 to 1⁄5th of the room utilised by this other group, meanwhile we are squeezed in to a tiny area that can in no way shape or form accommodate the size of the group we bring. If you’ve only got a small group with no special dietary requirements, it’s great. Otherwise you’re probably better trying to find somewhere else to go.

I’m normally in/out of the Red Cow to meet mates, have a drink and move on. The place is always clean and modern looking, and even though the patrons look a bit rough when you walk past on the street, they’re really not once you get inside. I had dinner upstairs, and was impressed by the quality of the food. Easily the best ribs in Penrith, beating the other steak house restaurants in Penrith hands down. Who’d know for a pub across from the station, hey! Worth giving it a shot for dinner, just make sure you head upstairs :)

Located in Penrith, right opposite the train station(you can’t miss it), Red Cow is a casual, pre-drink kind of establishment. It has a very pretty, cosy outdoor area beneath the canopies of a few lovely trees, fenced off from the rest of the street. It’s not particularly loud, or lively, but it’s a nice, quaint place to have a few drinks and relax a bit before heading out to a more exciting destination. It’s the kind of place that would be wonderful to have a drink at after a hard day at work. If you’re in the area and a little bored, give it a whirl. Drinks are fairly cheap!
