I came to Cut It Out yesterday in search of a new knife to replace a Japanese steel I had purchased when living in Japan in 2010. I’d tried Myer and David Jones, but was unimpressed by their range and lack of knowledge(although, the assistant in DJ did tell me to come to Cut It Out, so they get brownie points there!). After spending a minute browsing their range, it was clear the choices were pretty much either Japanese or German blades. I really should have done my research before coming out, but it was a last minute requirement after damaging my only decent knife earlier that day! The woman who helped me, Sarah, was friendly and not pushy at all. She informed me she had previously been a chef, and has used Wüsthof knives for several years. I had already decided I needed a 20 cm cook’s knife, which they had in that range, then she showed me a special where you received a paring knife for the same price. After discussing my possible future requirements, she suggested a knife set which was on sale for 60% off — too good an offer to refuse! I did not feel pressured by her in any way, and was grateful for the advice she was able to give. She also let me know they have a lifetime guarantee, so they will always be covered(as long as it’s not my fault they break!). I have used most of the knives already(less than 24 hours), and have been blown away by their quality. Cut It Out’s range of baking goods is also very impressive. As someone who likes to dabble with a bit of baking, I am confident in recommending them for your sweet requirements. All manner of oils, flavours, powders etc. for baking and decorating are available to purchase. When I eventually get around to trying my hand at macarons, I’ll be back to pick up everything I need!

This store caters to the professional chefs and restaurants of Perth, but if you are a serious foodie you will find all sorts of wonderful things in store. These aren’t your fancy looking cooking tools and gadgets, these are heavy duty, built for restaurants and will last forever in a domestic kitchen. For those that know their food and related paraphenalia they have the top brands like Wusthof, Victorinox and Global.

My friend who is a chef took me on what was quite an unexpected and slightly boring expedition to a store in the city which I never knew existed. Cut it Out is the central kitchen outlet… central? Suitable for industry and domestic kitchen supplies, this place literally has everything one would need for a kitchen. If you are in the service industry like my friend and you need uniforms or any personal equipment this is the place you should go. If you are an avid baker you can find all your supplies here also. There is a massive wall dedicated to all different shape and style knives(which is slightly menacing) ranging from $ 50-$ 300. They even have a professional knife sharpening service available.
