What a fantastic experience at Nunam. Great location. Went for a birthday for a mate. We arrived on a Monday night, and were seated inside the dark light/candlelight restaurant. Atmosphere looked amazing and the welcome greeting was nice. We sat down and ordered our food, which all came out with such authentic flavours and taste. Egg rolls were so amazing and quickly became the talk of the table. We shared many plates between us all. Green curry chicken was great too. Good flavours and delicious coconut rice to match. Only downfall is that the food took over 45 minutes to reach the table. The wait just seemed too long without any waitier advising us of this. The restaurant was busy that night, just one other table in. So did not expect that the meals would take that long. However rest of the dishes and the experience made it worth it and a place that I would go back to and recommend.

Had a lovely dinner for two at Nunam tonight. Nunam has had a few tough reviews in the past for the front of house service. We had a lovely night, our waitress was attentive, knew the menu and was kind. We arrived early at 6.30pm and had the soft shell crab and tom yum soup for entrée with Massaman Tofu and Red Pork Shoulder curries with rice for mains. Everything was delicious and packed with flavour. Don’t expect the MSG-soaked flavours of your cheap & cheerful Thai takeaway. Nunam infuses your food with fresh ingredients and is presented beautifully. This Chef obviously has a passion for what he does and we enjoyed our night immensely. Thank you Nunam, we’ll be back!

We’ve been here a number of times and the food continues to impress. A combination of punchy and delicate flavours remind you what Thai food is supposed to be. The service isn’t the typical Perth rush with plates stolen before you’ve concluded chewing, instead expect a relaxed and leisurely munch.

Had breakfast here today, was really surprised. The citrus cured salmon was so fresh served with asparagus, sweet potato & poached egg. Husband had son in law eggs with scallops which was a very original idea. Definitely check this one out

Good, authentic-tasting Thai food. I tried the Pad Thai, the tom yum soup, and the duck pancakes. All were very good, with the Pad Thai being my favorite. The tom yum soup had a good kick to it, with the right balance between spicy, sour, and savory flavors. The duck pancake was good, but probably my least preferred of the three. There’s not much fault to find here, although a few of the prawns(in both the Pad Thai and the tom yum) were a bit overcooked. And prices are a bit higher than what you might expect to find at most other Thai joints, making Nunam a better option for dinner than for lunch.

On the 8th of November, 2014, I visited Nunam with my father and two of his friends for dinner before a concert. Having been to the premises back when it was Nahm, I was looking forward to my dinner, as I am quite the fan of Thai food. We get in at around 7.30, and are shown to our table promptly. So far, so good. From there, everything went really downhill — two of the waiters, if you could call them that, seemed more pre-occupied about walking around the room like a couple of jaded hipsters than actually serving diners. After 10 minutes, we eventually ordered our food and some water for the table. Things would get worse — our table was wonky, and one of the moronic waiters came and said he’d fix it, only to go and serve the next table, completely forgetting about us! Then another of the waiters, holding a tray of appetizers, asked if we had ordered them, when we had only ordered mains. He asked us no fewer than three times before he got the message. I saw him around the restaurant a good 10 minutes later, with the tray of appetizers still in hand, looking for whoever ordered them — they would have been cold by the time they got to their table! By 8.10pm, a whole 40 minutes after we entered, we were still to receive our food, having only received one glass of wine, and the aforementioned water. Even with the wine, my father’s friend asked for a glass, and we initally got a bottle, after explicitly requesting only a glass. Not long after this, a waitress comes and fixes the wonky table, and a few minutes later, we finally get SOME of our food. Only one problem, aside from not all the food being on the table — NOPLATES! Did they expect us to eat with our fingers and make a mess on our shirts? We got plates, after asking twice, after a few more minutes, and all but one dish was on the table — the dish I explicitly requested for! Thankfully, I brought this to the attention of one of the waitresses, and it came promptly — maybe she’d learnt a lesson from the others! When we finally got to eat, the food was great, same quality as when it was known as Nahm. One more mishap would occur before the end of our meal though — one of the water bottles was warm, and thus unsatisfactory. It was sent back promptly, and taken off the final bill. Although not before they tried to give us a replacement, by this time, we had a concert to get to, and we clearly stated that we did not want it replaced, rather refunded. I will NEVER, EVER give this«restaurant» another penny of my money, until something seriously drastic happens to the appalling service here. The food may be good, but if you’re going to pay $ 30-$ 40 for one main, without any rice or vegetables on the side, you expect service a LOT better than what I’ve described here. If I lived in a country where tipping was customary, I would not have tipped the waiters ATALL. In fact, if this restaurant was in the United States, particularly in the Southern United States, where quality service is both highly admired and expected, this place would be closed in a week. Avoid at all costs, I’m sure there are far better Thai restaurants in Perth, that provide good food AND good service.

The entrée I knew I wanted to order instantly upon reading the menu was the soft shell crab with grilled watermelon and a chilli and lime dressing. I’m possibly the biggest sucker in the world for soft shell crab and so it was a nice justification of my choice when the waitress nodded and told us it was highly recommended. I was expecting big things. The crab was crunchy on the outside and had some lovely punchy spices to elevate the seafood’s taste. The inside is soft and meaty, and delicate in flavour. I really enjoy watermelon(and other fruits) in savoury dishes and felt that it gave a nice burst of juiciness and sweetness to cut through the salt. It was one of my favourite dishes of the evening and left me feeling fresh and energised even though it had fried components. Choosing our mains was actually quite an easy affair also, with certain items jumping out and appealing to our particular preferences. I was speedy in selecting the red curry with duck, lychees and quail egg — and I’m so glad I did. It might sound like an exaggeration but I assure you it’s not… this is the best curry I’ve had in a really long time. Perhaps even the best ever. The sauce is sweet but well balanced, so full of flavour I find myself completely silent as I spoon it over my rice and scoop up bite after bite. The duck is tender, with a small little sliver of fat. The lychee is sugary and helps cut through the richness of the meat, and the quail egg is just perfection. It’s a deceptively simple looking dish but really packs a punch. I will be rushing back to try this one again soon. When ordering our mains we’re told we have unlimited rice in the banquet and the choice of jasmine or coconut — or a mix of both. We both really love fragrant coconut rice so we choose this and it is damn good. I keep telling myself not to fill up on it, but even plain it’s so tasty. Another highlight of the meal.

This is the new name of Nahm Thai. We went there for breakfast today & were blown away by the delicious Asian inspired dishes that adds to the uniqueness of this restaurant. There are meals to keep people happy if they’re looking for standard breakfasts like buttermilk pancakes, but we tried the Sticky Black Rice with Coconut Flakes, Ginger Syrup, Cashews & Coconut Cream(like the Thai dessert) & Congee with Hollandaise Sauce & Crispy Bacon. They were a real delight! Can’t wait to go back for lunch. They use Di Bella coffee & have a trendy new bright yellow Wega machine.

We came to Nahm Thai for breakfast Sunday morning as we heard they had recently just started doing a Breaky option. We had a table of 6, and not sure if they were understaffed but service was terribly slow. It took 1 hr to bring out coffee, of which the order they brought out was wrong. The food was ok one of the dishes(omelette) was cold. And breakfast took close to an hour and a half to come out. The food was ok, I had the Fried eggs with Lap cheong, the dish was nice. Authentic Thai flavour with fried shallots, chilli except everyone else had lime on their plate and they forgot mine. At the end of the meal we asked if we could please do separate billing and the lady said it would be too difficult for them. There was no apology or explanation for the slow service, and the wrong orders. Don’t think we’ll be back here for breakfast.

Okay, so this place is very much a special celebration kind of restaurant — birthday, engagement, I just got a big, fat bonus kind of restaurant. The menu is pricey — but exquisite, so don’t short-change yourself out of the experience, just save up and treat yourself. We went there on Friday with a group of about 12 and had a great time(although I am not sure the first-date couple sitting next to us appreciated our boisterous celebration). The roasted pork hock main was so out-of-this-world, that although we had ordered the banquet, we put our hands up to get extra dishes of this speciality — in fact I can still imagine the taste now… yum! The waitstaff were professional and attentive, but not overly obsequious, which tends to be the norm in the fine-dining restaurants around town.

A really good Thai restaurant which I am so glad we decided to frequent. The red duck curry really is special and we also loved the cured beef entrée and lime pie. I think the greatest offering from Nahm Thai is there banquet option where you choose two entrees, three mains and two desserts for two to share. Unfortunately we didn’t have the most exceptional service — on another evening we may have rated Nahm Thai 5 stars.

Expect the unexpected at this North Perth Thai restaurant, which deservedly gets a good wrap from foodies near and far. An elegant, modern interior sets the tone of the high-end restaurant. It’s comfortable yet sophisticated, quite unlike the many hole-in-the-wall Thai favourites you find around the traps. Sharing the entrees and mains is a good way to play it here — don’t feel like you can’t because it’s a bit more upscale. You want to enjoy as many of the taste sensations as possible. Red curry with roast duck and lychees, galloping horses and soft shell crab are among many of Nahm’s high points.

I have reviewed a lot of Thai restaurants, its one of my favourites and this could just be the best of the best. It is slightly classier than most of the Thai restaurants around, although a little bit small in size, they make up for it with the most delicious pad thai you will ever taste! They have some really unusual dishes and all super tasty. I made the mistake of ordering just one dish the first time I went and it really wasn’t enough, I’m not a big eater but the portions are pretty small, so maybe get a couple. If worse comes to worse you can always take it home!

Named as Perth’s top Thai restaurant and who’s to argue? Certainly not me, this place is exquisite. It’s not China town, hole-in-the-wall, street-style food; Nahm Thai stands for upscale, innovative and modern Thai cuisine. The restaurant space is small and elegantly dressed, and only fits in a few tables — booking is essential and I don’t recommend for groups over four. The food here is seriously good and will change the way you look at Thai cuisine forever. The portions are small, and the menu is designed for people to order a few different plates and sample various Thai flavours. It’s really like taking your tastebuds on an excursion. The ‘Galloping Horses’ — caramelised pork mice and peanuts, served atop squares of pineapple and grapefruit — is a signature dish and the Red curry with roast duck, quail egg and lychee is life changing. Lychees and duck go together like Heidi Klum and Seal — unpredictable, exotic and damn tasty! Start putting away for a ‘Nahm Thai’ fund and invest in an evening of sublime gastronomic adventure.
